Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

For @Killian!

As Prairie made her way down south, away from the odd, ghastly moaning and the young coywolf @Dusty Rose, the girl came upon a watering hole. One her parents had never shown her before, which was quite rude. Especially when the water at her homeplace came and went with the seasons. They could've just.... come here. Seriously, dad?

Flicking her tail in annoyance, the coyote would come to the waters edge, craning her head down to take a few sips of the oh so delicious water. Looking back up, she clicked her tongue a few times, rolling her eyes as she gazed around the place. “Fuckin' hell, dad. Couldn't gist lead us hare, ey? Had tuh keep us in thet shitty grass field?” She scoffed for a moment, before taking a few more sips.

He thanked whatever gods looked down on him that at least his accent was easy to understand. The other one, right here and now, was a bit difficult. Sounded all 'wah wah' to him, but at least he could tell she was... sorta miffed about something. Madder than a bee in her bonnet! Killian had been resting near the Watering Hole for a few days now. It was quiet. He was alone with his thoughts.

Gods help him. That path was paved with less-than-good intentions.

Maybe he was too blended in with the tall grass — she failed to see him. Even as her eyes roamed over the location. He wasn't trying to hide. He was a pigeon shit against the autumn foliage anyway. He didn't have a fancy all-brown coat to blend in. "Ya okay there, luv?" he asked with an arched brow. If she freaked out over his sudden announcement... well, he found he didn't care much. It was just more entertaining when they flipped out.
