For the first time, — perhaps not the actual first time, but the first time since Arcane had joined them — the pack had guests. Another family had come to visit them. Three adults and five children — of which, only two were male.

Arcane had not been in the welcome party; large groups weren’t really this thing, though he had watched from afar. Finding it particularly interesting when the bright, red beast nearly ran into a tree.

It was interesting that they hadn’t brought their tiger with them. The tip of his tail flickered at the idea of following them home to investigate, under the impression that all packs had their own tiger or two. Because why would Duskguard be different from other packs?

His stomach rumbled, and Arcane sighed, getting to his feet. He wondered if any of the new folks would want to go hunting with him.

He would wait for them to disperse before approaching and asking a bunch of strangers if they wanted to go hunting. Maybe he could give them a tour until one of them got hungry enough? Hm.

The man wasn't much for large gatherings, always pretty awkward in groups. And so, when the welcome wagon appeared for the guests, he quickly excused himself, instead hanging back in the shadows like the silent guardian he was. 

Narrowed eyes would flick over at the tiger cub that he had apparently adopted. He had only really expected to pawn it off to @Olive but alas, the cub seemed to have an attachment to him, one he didn't understand. But, he wasn't going to push the kid away either. Instead, he would simply let out a soft bark, letting the boy know he was there. Last thing he wanted was to scare the child.

^^It was cute to think that Genny thought he could both a) easily get rid of Arcane’s pillow like that and b) try to sneak up on a tiger. He might have been a cub still, but c’mon now. Genny himself, Arcane’s dubbed pillow, was this hulking mass of a dog that towered over most things — at least, for now.

He could hear the crunching of the snow, or even the heavy paw-steps as he walked around. He could smell him; a smell that he knew well, because he was Arcane’s pillow and chew toy. So when the giant dog let out a bark, Arcane hadn’t really acted surprised.

Already standing, Arcane slowly turned to look at him with the arch of a single brow. He stared at him long and hard.

And then he lunged forward.

The man raised an eyebrow as he watched the boy, curious as to what he was doing. It was clear the cub heard him coming, but why was he staring at him like that? 

Oh shit~

One second they were staring at each other rather awkwardly and the next, there was a whole tiger cub launching at him. Genghis knew he was much too large to move out of the way and, instead lowered himself to the ground, feeling the weight of the tiger slam into him. Quickly though, he would aim to push his body forward, attempting to push the child off balance and onto his back into the snow. 

His tail wagged behind him quickly, clearly enjoying this, though he made certain not to harm the tiger. Sure, in just a few months, Arcane would probably have to hold back to not hurt him, but for now, he was still the largest of the two.

^^The guardian arched a brow, and the look on his face that unfolded as Arcane came bundling towards him was pretty damn amusing, but it wasn’t enough to deter Arcane’s plan of attack. An attack that actually wasn’t an attack, but the guardian didn’t know that.

Arcane gave a series of growls, making contact with him and rubbing his face all over Genny’s neck and throat, nuzzling him — until he rolled off onto his back, into the snow, and Arcane extended a playful paw towards him, in an attempt to grab him and bring him down with an excited little roar.

The man let out a deep chuckle at the nuzzles, but still didn't stop his own plan of attack, pushing him onto his back with a chuckle. However, he wasn't expecting tiger arms to wrap around him, pulling him down into the snow right beside the cub. His tail flicked back and forth happily as he let out a soft grunt of surprise, rolling slightly to make sure he didn't land on the child. "Nicely played." He said in a deep laugh, having more fun than he had since he arrived here. 

Laying on his back, he would aim a few playful smacks to the boy's forehead, his tongue hanging out the side of his mouth in a goofy smile. He wasn't sure why he was so relaxed and playful around the boy, but it was a nice change of pace from his normal always on guard attitude.

^^Ah, these two were as thick as thieves. The guardian was able to toss him aside, for now, but Arcane had grabbed him and tossed him into the snow beside him. “I thought you wanted this, with all that barking..” Arcane growled, playfully.

The playful smacks caused him to arch his brows as he rolled over and plopped himself onto the dog, resting his head and all of his weight, on the dog’s neck as he continued his assault of nuzzles, and just remaining there, on his pillow with a content sigh.

The man found himself grinning at the boy's words, though he let out a grunt as the cub plopped himself down on his chest. Thankfully, the lion wasn't as his full weight just yet or that might have been the end for the loveable guardian. "You know, in a few months, you will squash me if you do that." He joked lightly, his chest vibrating as he laughed softly. But, he made no move to shove the cat off and, instead would wrap one paw around the tiger's back, aiming to lick and groom the large cub's fur on his shoulder. 

"You are old enough now for me to ask you this. Why did you not go to live with Miss Olive when you joined? Why did you stay with me, I certainly know little to nothing about raising a cub." He was more curious than anything, but he was very happy about it too. The large canine had quickly grown fond of the child, easily willing to give his life to keep his tiger son safe.

^^Arcane curled the rest of his body around the dog, and closed his eyes. He was content enough to fall asleep right there, not really caring if he was immobilizing the dog in place. His eyes opened as the dog spoke, joking that Arcane couldn’t do this in the future. “Better fatten up then,” was Arcane’s very sassy reply.

He took to the grooming of the dog without much fuss, but he still hadn’t moved, and wasn’t going to. He closed his eyes again, and then reopened them as Gen spoke again. “Pretty Olive has a family. Where is yours? Where is mine?”

Arcane said nothing else, allowing the silence to settle in and take them.

The man shook his head with a chuckle before relaxing, letting the boy curl up on his chest. A paw would lightly lay over him, protecting him without a single thought. However, he froze as the boy spoke of family, flickering his eyes down to look at him. Did the child know how close he hit the nail on the head? Genghis never really had a family, he had a flock that he protected and nothing more. 

With a sigh, he would stay quiet, lightly starting to lick the boy's head, grooming him if he didn't move away. This was all new to him, but he was grateful of the young tiger that clung to him. Perhaps this was the family he needed.
