Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Where mountains and snowy vales had once been her home, Viviene took no time to accustom herself to these, picking along the narrow trails like a fine-toed goat and maneuvering around with no more than a little observation and careful deliberation before making her bed and lying in—as they say.

Viviene anticipated on returning to the lower throes of the mountains, eyeing the fog-thick world below, desperate for something other than slim birds to eat. However, what she did not anticipate was the quartet of rocks which clicked and clacked and fell past her, settling near her forepaws, indicating a presence she heard before she saw it.

Prying through the thoughts of the clouds, the sun wavered ever-so-dimly in the distance. There were soft huffs that could be heard and be seen in front of a fisherman. The breaths left his lips softly, creating their own small clouds before dissipating to join those familiar above. He'd been in the mountains protected by mist before. It was easily missed, high above and almost engulfed by the clouds.

There was another thing it was good for though... And that... was fishing! The short, quick breaths of air were from Alexei holding his breath under the water as he clasped his teeth over cold, hard scales. His face was wet, ears dripping with water, when he tossed the creature to the side, slapping it down against the ground. The impact would be enough for death, quick and simple.

The man took a break, having four fish already caught, and ready for a second trip to the tundra -- he had a secret spot placed between here and Shiroshika's territory, where the ice would keep them fresh for longer, and he could continue fishing without having to lug all the fish home at once. Stretching out his legs, folding down into a bow play before coming back up, he saw someone not far off. She was close enough to catch a glimpse of when he moved, like someone shimmering beyond the veil. He wondered... "Excuse me.. Do you live here?"
