Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

She passed into the Woodlands, where the sky broke easily and she could see beyond the autumn leaves. A swarming of the clouds, darkened like the gray of Doc ; and yet to see any upcoming storms. Her tail waved lightly in the air as she looked, and blinked away once the settling of the rainfall begun. Gentle though, only little droplets on this drizzle-day, that she found herself seeking shelter beside a tree. Her small form, patiently waiting..

Light skirted through the glade, dappled warmth mirroring the forest's soft atmosphere. A stream pooled beneath the Wisteria tree, foaming with blue as it cascaded down. A truly magnificent sight to behold, left alone to Aelynne.

Not characteristically attentive, Aelynne ignored the signs of wolves along the trees and in the air, passing gored bodies and bones carelessly. She could defend herself if she wanted to, when she wanted to.

The clouds continued to form and roam, a thunder stroke to the sky and momentarily made the sky go white. She could see it through the trees and squinted lightly at the brightness, before settling into that darkness once more. As continued on, it had rained the scent of any wolves approaching until they were quite close ; she took a quick look to her right to realize someone else had entered the Woodlands. Her tail moved lightly, curling around herself..

Debating whether she should say something — or remain silent. Their scent was not Elkshire, so for the meanwhile, she remained within that pitter-patter of rain silence.
