Curiosity got to her on this day, as she looked at the mountains beyond the vale. As the snow stopped, she could see the mountains that dipped into the warmer regions, and even felt the temperature difference. It wasn't extremely bad however, it was not summer and fall was here ; giving a light breeze to it all. She wondered whether this was the area Gala once said.. Somewhere was a beautiful lake full of flowers, and Aries very much wanted to see it.

As she travelled to and into the mountains, she was memorized by the sheer height of the trees. They were tall, almost challenging a small mountain! They were quite old, for when she gaze at a fallen log, the rings inside were surely of hundreds.. She was idly looking around, her ears constantly flickering to every sound that was — very curious, on this place.

The wolf had come to Elsewhen, having traveled harshly through the night. The sun had been arising, casting it's heaving glow onto the lands below. It was almost unbearable to his eyes. Lacking the black of his fur under his eyes was a terrible decision in genetics. He had no luck within the gene pool.

Coming through the break in the tree-line he was met with a glorious view. He had to stop for a moment in order to take in the scene that surrounded him. A beautiful lake, surrounded by thick sequoias. As the sun rose it was framed by the mountains, a semi-circle that gently held the ball in the sky. Cassian was no fool and he knew this was not the actual occurrence, but it was a nice thought.

The sun itself blasted it's light ahead, illuminating the reflections on the water itself. It was almost as if it glowed, shimmering with every little wave from a fish below. He was enraptured by this. If he had seen this beauty before he would not know. Experiences were being replaced in his mind, finding homes with pre-existing emotions. This sight itself momentarily held the placement of warmth in his soul. The feeling of sitting by a fire in the winter. The feeling of someone you love gently pushing their muzzle into the crook of your neck. Happiness. Serenity.

The sound of water rustling was heard as her light ears twitched. She could hear the scurrying of foragers, beavers clucking away at the large trees as she could smell their scent all around. Her pawsteps went forward, finding that little sounds that led to a great lake ; beautiful and guarded by the sequoia' trees. The sky itself bounced off in reflection, clearer then any waters she had seen besides some of a melted glacier, but at such a wide-depth was a beauty to the eye. Her golden one's sparkled — but as she was scenting her way over, there was another that caught her nose.

"Oh, hello there," Aries greeted, she could see a behemoth of a man nearby, "are you enjoying the scenary as well?"

He had been lost within his own mind, staring off across the water. He'd been taking it all in. Every little scuffle, every little wave. Every single that a fish gave beneath the water. It seemed almost as if it was a different environment on its own. Separate from the cold mountainous region around. It was such a contrast to the land he had awoken to. He'd found himself in a territory of snow, with dulled evergreen around. It had been eerily quiet there. Yet all of the colors and sounds was overwhelming to him. It reminded him of a home long forgotten. Subtle things remained ever so familiar, yet untouchable in his memories.

A voice. That had broken him from this trance. Like a voice calling out to you amongst the fog. Turning to attend to this new canine he became focused once more. This one was much different than the one he had just met. She appeared with a coat of cloudy whites and grays.

Opting not to leave her in silence Cassian gave a gentle nod. "That I am. It's wonderful." Having not ben greeted with hostility he reflected the tone back to her.

"It's quite a scenery," Aries said as she settled onto her hunches. Her tail curled around as she was smiling idly, looking down to the crystal-blue water and could even see a fish. The other didn't seem to mind her, nor' was he aggressive and she was relatively thankful for that, and able to enjoy this scenery in peace. As an ear flickered, she could hear the sound of..

"Oh look, beavers," they were near the side of the lake, seemingly heading out of the water.

Cassian opted to remain standing, feet firm within the damp mud and grass below. He'd likely need to clean his coat out later, although due to it's dark tones he wouldn't need to worry as much as someone like her. His mother on the other hand would have yelled at him for thinking such a foolish idea.

At the mention his head craned to the sound of the noise. A soft chitter and click of their tongues. Distinguishable from a woodpecker's gnawing, although he found them to be unsettlingly similar. Maybe that's just arising hearing problems. He watched as they slipped from the water below, their greasy looking coats soaked. The water seemed to drip off of them quickly, leaving a trail as they moved in search of something. "What are they looking for?" He questioned, turning back to her. Cassian hadn't been raised within a wetland area, in fact it was quite hard to find lakes at times. The most you got was a river rushing straight down the mountains. He only knew them by sound from a few sparse interactions. Other than that he was completely in the dark on what they are, or what they do.

Strangely enough, beavers are in the tundra. Though tend to the more warmer parts, she was aware of them and had hunted before, "they often make block the way of waters, collecting wood to make their makeshift ponds for a den." Strange little critters Aries said and thought as she was observing so. Them biting the logs far from them from the scattering of trees, even old logs on the ground being gathered. She could see around them some of the trees had marks from their attempting foraging, but seemingly gave up by their thickness.

He replied with a soft hum, watching them as they moved. Cassian slowly sat down, light on his haunches. Although, as lightly as he could sit. He was hardly strong enough to hold himself up fully without giving some of his weight off to the ground below. Because of this his hind legs were splayed slightly, trying to find the most comfortable position on the bank below. A pebble or so were under the backs of his legs, but that was the extent of the discomfort from it.

Watching with a careful gaze he started making mental notes of everything they did. The beaver's rhythms, movements, and overall what they were doing. Fascinating little things, honestly. If they loved wood so much then he was surprised at having not seem them. Then again there wasn't much water to spare amount the thickness of the forest. Maybe they rested by the rivers, or a lake here and there, but he'd never know. He was hardly an explorer either way.

"Its quite active here." A yellow gaze drifted to the other side, she could spot the light caribou that most likely drifted from the Tundra and hung near the lake. They were quietly grazing and drinking the water — a small herd, she could see one but there was signs of antlers hanging in the backdrop of bushes that signaled more then just one around. Their appearance had startled some of the beavers! Who dove into the waters and were aiming for the little homes.

He followed her gaze, eyeing the herd of deer. The faint movements behind the brush that signaled the idea of more than the obvious. Hearing the gentle splash of water aiding the deer's sudden presence his gaze snapped over towards the movement. Off they go. Strange little creatures with their flat leathery tails. He couldn't begin imagining how that must feel to drag and carry around.

"It's surprising, isn't it?" He spoke, returning his eyes to the cloudy coated she. He did so before intently watching the movements of the deer once more. "I'm assuming it's nearing the cold season, yes?" That was something that was all too familiar. The offsetting cold winds that blew in from elsewhere in the world, bringing a harmful sting to the air. 'Fall' wasn't a concept he had been introduced to, so he had no words to place it.

Aries nodded at the man, "Yes, and autumn is quite dazzling as an opener to winter. Even the leaves are changing more and more.. Snowfall should be upon the land shortly." The time of fall was oh-so short, Aries thought. Where the land even in the tundra would only experience it shortly, before it would quickly shift to the fallen and dead leaves upon the snow-floor, and winter would be officially there. Although now closer to the mountain region, she was able to enjoy the freshness of red leaves just a bit longer, and just a bit more.

They were quite beautiful.

Cassian gave a gentle nod, the heavy fur around his chest managing to puff up and curl around his jaw as he did so. It gently ticking his neck. He could tell his cold coat was growing in. His hair was falling out and in it's place a more dense layer would appear. A natural reminder of the times. How things were constantly moving. Time was changing, and if you did not change alongside it you would be left to the ashes of yesterday.

The brightening colors of the leaves were pleasant. It was little things like that that would remind him of his home. The endless trees and the way the leaves fell with the chilling weather. "It truly is a shame it only comes to visit us every seasonal rotation." His tone remained almost solemn. He was gently speaking, allowing his words to float across the cold air.

"I once heard there are some places that are like an eternal autumn. Where the leaves are always drenched in it's warm colors." Such a fable was a tale given to some northerns. Where the land was always within autumn, where another was always in a spring or summer.. Rumors of how other lands were eternal like some areas in the north that were always laced with snow.

"Do you think those places are real?" She asked the man whose name she didn't even know. Such was the strangeness of the world and wolves as a whole, constantly meeting more and more once out of the territories. She was so used to groups being so far apart, but in the region everyone was so bunched and close together, that she wondered why no one ever went beyond.

Cassian let out a small 'ah' of thought to this. He had to think about it, in all honestly. He wasn't one who specialized in climates. All he really knew was that some places got frigid in the cold seasons, while others were more tolerable. His own mother didn't care much for expressing things like that to him. She was more focused on politics, and how to cater to people who get under your skin. She didn't care about if or when it snowed.

After some careful moments of consideration he finally came to a mental decision. "I hardly see why not." His tone was gentle, caressing each word from his mouth as if it were a soft loaf of dough. "Places farther north are much more cold. If they exist so do their inverse, unbelievably hot. Likewise a midpoint exists as well, a place between hot and cold, an autumn that stays pristine in its auburn coat for eternity."

She smiled at his open-thoughts of the matter and enjoyed he too thought it was. For same reasons as well, for there was those in the north that was eternally in snow and ice, but other places melted.. She even remembered the stories of the land of the hottest places, where the sands are endless but dry, without a speck of the ocean or water to be seen. A desert, if Aries remembered rightly ; it felt possible for the between of an endless autumn to happen.

"I wish one day to see it," she said with a warmth brushing through her tone. She felt a blush warming her face of such a moment, thinking maybe it was a bit childish perhaps.. But there was a lot of dreams Aries held now realizing everything that she once imagined was all too close. Although she pained to think to be too far from the place she now claims home — Duskguard.

"As do I." He spoke gently, closing his eyes for a moment. Deep within him he was trying to tug at any idea of him having previously seen it. A place of eternal autumn. All that came to him was evergreen, woods, and the muddiness of sand below his feet, ever more faint than the smell of pine. No constant soft crunch of leaves before his feet, no gentle chill of the wind. A foreign idea now, one that only seemed to pop routinely. Although in its current presence, it only felt so much more tangible.

He opened his eyes once more, looking down to the river below. Every so often a wet leaf would flow down to the river, having fallen from the dull branches above. He didn't feel the need to expand on his agreement, it was as blatant and obvious as he could possibly make it. It was a wonderful idea, to enjoy the coolness of the wind and the beautiful colors of the trees. To wake up to the cloudy sky daily. That's something he can hardly remember, waking up to the sun, or clouded sun caressing your skin. Blocked by the foliage above, allowing no light through their solid form.
