Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Miriam's heart beat like a drum, as in the distance she saw the famed red forest. It's trees hung in such a vivid color ; red as the blood, and red as the flowers that roam the ground — far more red then any autumn she has seen, and definitely would not have such a color at this early time of autumn.. But it wasn't that at the moment that was on her mind, but it was the forming group that Tavra claimed to make, and she, promised to visit.

Alas, her ears sunken lightly as Miriam entered the forest with a dejected look, as no smell was ambient within this forest. She could not detect the sun-wolf, nor' any others in this forest but a very, dull scent. Did she leave..?

There was little here to conceal the bull female of stone and white hues within the scarlet forest. She had been curious when she saw it from afar, but now that she had quenched her curiosity for a mere few minutes, she grew uninterested and decided to prowl elsewhere, seeking another exit.

She hadn't met the scent markers of a pack so was unaware when she saw the similarly toned wolf looking all lost and astray. And Maeve immediately squashed her ears taught against her thick skull, with a peeved look within her eyes when she cast her blues toward them as though they were the lowest scum that walked the mountains.

There was an itch to mutter an unwelcome word or two to the passing visitor but she refrained, diverting her course ever so subtly in case the innocent looking female decided to attack her.

The forest sung lightly, she felt the rustling of the wind through her fur as she stood within. The dancing of the red leaves falling off it's branches and swimming within the air, she pressed a paw of one of these fallen leaves.. Red as any time, redder then blood itself ; a deep crimson that brought a beauty, but she knew many too would be wary of such a sight. It suited the wildfire, as red as the flaming heart she held, but alas, she was not here. Unfortunate, Miriam's ears remained crestfallen as she gazed about.

Although she froze, for upon that wind as also a feline ; a mountain lion? Miriam and encountered a strange one long ago, stripped, orange, unlike the one she was familiar with.. But among this red wonderland, there was a stark white she could make through the trees. The maiden held her breath in watching.

Thunderous in her movements, in her aura that surrounded her, she continued with tensed shoulders, her head hung low, looking at the ground in front of her until she could hear the wolf's movements come to a halt. She could feel their eyes on her, and she immediately spun; defensive.

Were they to take to their descendant's primal instincts, to chase the outcast cat? -- She stared back. Angry, spiteful eyes bored into the wolves, almost challengingly and then she grunted.

'What?'. Filthy mutt, she refrained from adding. Her voice was roughened and unrefined.

"You.. Are not going to attack me?" They reminded her of @Daighre. An edge, an anger, the world against them and yet.. No harm truly fell upon her as she stared puzzlingly at the beast itself. They were unlike the striped one, but neither were they a mountain lion. Snow-white, and yet spotted like a newborn fawn ; black in those but blue as the night sky in their gaze. A tail that was overally long. A stark contrast to the red-forest all around, where even the crows that cawed in the distance, fit in more then the other did. Black against the red.
