Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

The man lowered himself ever so slightly to the ground, hackles raised and maw open. With narrowed eyes he stared at @Vendrussel, readying himself for their spar. He had come down in search for her, wanting a spar with the woman he had met only once before. He didn't entirely know her, but Tiberius trusted her so therefore, Genghis did too. But, he figured a friendly spar between them to gauge their abilities would be a good bonding experience.

Still, he would let her attack first, wanting to at least be gentleman enough to give her that. Of course, he also had an alternative reason, knowing that those that attacked first were typically at a disadvantage. Mostly, he was curious to see if she would fall for any traps he had ready, or if she would shock him.

On this day she would meet a Duskguard wolf, and one way or another they would divulge into but a friendly spar. She was passing into the north, and by chance would always go through the moors ; just as any other would normally go through the brim. Both territories unofficially claimed and often led to troubles — but on this day to enjoy a small moment with that of Genghis. He was larger then her, and was surely not of the same species. Had seen him for a second time though, and each time she was mighty curious of his origins..

But she was quick on her feet. Training through the course sands, Vendrussel had speed to her advantage compared to the might of the beast, and as a gentleman that he was, he allowed her the first strike. She charged forward, what was seemingly a headbutt was then jumped to the side to ambush and attempt to tackle him downwards by the inkling of surprise.

She was grinning, the entire time.

Everything about this made him wag his tail slightly behind him, the only indication that he was having fun. His face kept a snarl, one that would be terrifying to most others. He was glad that she didn't turn tail and run away from him. Instead, she charged at him head on, causing him to raise an eyebrow but brace himself. Sure enough, she moved around him at the last second, causing him to tense up. He wasn't fast enough to get out of the way, and felt her slam into him, stumbling back slightly but managing to keep himself firmly planted on the ground.

With fangs ready, he would attempt to grip her shoulder, giving a light shake if he was able to get a bite. However, he would make sure that he wasn't ripping any muscle or flesh, simply just wanting to get a grip and move her off of him. She was a leader, and powerful in her own right, but he knew his own strength and knew that, if he put everything into a fight with a smaller wolf, he could do some serious damage. And he didn't want that.

She managed to use swiftness to make him tumble lightly, but it'd be a fools calling to think that'd make him fall over and yield. He remained strong and sturdy, and to turn and try and nip at her shoulder. Vendrussel knew it was best to stay at a distance for minimal damage and the best way to win in such a spar. She was considered taller then the average wolf, although still lean and relatively healthy then of pure mass of any. However he was brawn, pure brawn that was hard to match even with appropriate training. He gripped her shoulder, and she snarled in a threaten to release. Her jaws snapped at his own, a pecking like a bird so she could be release and back away.
