Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Vermillion chased off a flock of crows that settled near one of the cache's, most likely wanting to scavenge. In truth she did feel bad, but.. They were there trying to take hard-earned food that Greenwood hunt! She was ushering with a 'shoo' to them while running around in attempted to chase, a flock of their feathers drifting about and to the floor during so. She cocked her head..

Maybe, maybe a blessing in disguise? She had a fondness for collecting, though hadn't done too much since coming to Greenwood. Few feathers and pebbles here, and left at Elkshire the few randoms she had found, such as the bottle. So now was the young Deorwine picking up feathers carefully with her teeth.

He left the crows alone. While he much preferred a raven over a crow, he had no ill will toward the bird anyway. Watching through his half-lids, he eyes the brunette that had chased them off the cache. She would stop to admire the blackened feathers, carefully trying to pick them up. He would have left her alone to her task, truly, when a gust of wind blew the others away.

@Vermillion had the one she held, but Bran chased after the ones that flickered away. Without a word, he leaps up once near the cache and pounces downward, trapping one between his paws. This is quickly held in his mouth as he focuses on the others. Another leap was done, slapping the feather together with both paws as he fell back to the earth. It was almost cat-like.

He moved with the grace of a feline playing, not a hulking wolf. Turning back to the girl, he approached wordlessly - all feathers in his jaws now - and placed them on the ground. He placed a paw gently on the edges, trying to keep them in place.

Rounding them up, she grew flustered as the wind came. Her face visibly fell as they started blowing away, and any she attempted to was away, all but the one in her maw. A flushed look, paws running amock as she ran around with but attempts to wanting to grab and feeling if she opened her maw, the only one she managed to get, would too run away.

But she didn't need to, as ruby-eyes sparkled for the new man within Greenwood emerged, catching them all as they went. Lifting up to the air and grabbing as he went, only to present it back to her. If a wolf could blush surely her face would be scarlet, for his appearance also meant he saw her scavenging around for these.

"T-Thank you," and nonetheless, manners persisted and she thanked him.

"You do not need to be embarrassed." Instead of saying you're welcome like a normal person... Well, he decided to cut to the chase and tried to make her feel less awful about it. His body language was merely alert, because of the feathers' potential to slip away. The paw did not lift from them. He was not upset or even mad about it.

"It is perfectly natural to collect things we find interesting." His mother, for one, collected anything shiny she could get her paws on. Squirreling them away when they rested in a place, only to trade for food or herbs in the end. She always assumed they'd be worth something, even if she couldn't keep them permanently. Bran looked past the girl to the area.

"Do you need help carrying them?" The feathers, of course. He would resist going into her personal den, though. Just walk to it, deposit them and back away.
