Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

The world would not wait for him to settle. Best he gets used to a new routine before he grew old and stagnant. Bran would find his way back to the border after parting with Lady Kore. His eyes flickered over the invisible scent line, deeming it strong enough for now. He would add his own later after his Greenwood sent festered.

Angling his body, Bran paced wordlessly. His steps are deliberate - up and down, up and down. He walked the proverbial line at a slow and quiet pace. The sun was indeed setting, casting the land in a dim glow. He kept his neck semi-down, not looking threatening or aggressive. Quietly doing his duty to the pack that took him in.

If one was to join him, they would find he paused at their approach. Yes? he left unsaid, wondering what they wanted. Surely they weren't here to greet him? He had other things to do than idle and awkward chat.

Throwing Heather in because I am addicted to everything that is bran <3

Someone new had joined them recently, Heather could tell by the scent, and while she was trying to seek comfort in @Kore and @Vermillion, the girl couldn't help but be a little curious...

So, off she went to find this stranger, and as she approached the borders, she noticed him, seemingly pacing along the invisible line. For now, she'd say no words, instead delivering a low, soft woof to alert him of her presence, before staring as he stopped to look at her. 'Hi?' Her eyes responded to his own, before she pulled up besides him.

Aiming a small tail flick at him, Heather would repeat what he had been doing prior; tracing the scent borders. Hopefully he'd follow behind, and they could walk in comfortable silence. It was oddly nice, just walking as the sun began to set. And while she may not get to learn things like the man's favourite colour or his best talent, she'd certainly enjoy the company.

 Ah. A new face.

Bran simply stared back at the woman for a few seconds after she joined him. Wordless. He didn't know whether that was acceptable or not. Maybe she didn't talk due to his lack of communication. No matter.

 He'd keep going.

@Heather would mark the scent line as he patrolled it after her. Bran kept a careful watch over the part of the location that was not claimed by Greenwood. Now that a pack mate was here?

He had every intention of shielding her.

A fallen silence continued. He was so used to others speaking around him that it felt somewhat odd. But he was not going to be the one to break it. No, he would feel quite awkward and stumble. No use setting a bad impression.

She was grateful for the quiet. For the silence, not needing to talk.

She'd always been quite loud, energetic, the 'social' one. But without Marble here... it felt like she'd lost her balance. Like... Like hell, really, but she was glad for a home. Funny, she didn't know many of their names. Perhaps now would be appropriate to ask.

“I'm Heather,” She smiled to the brown man. It seemed the wolves of Greenwood had quite earthy-ish fur. Just like her, half a calf, basically, with white-ish spots decorating her hips and hind. “What about you? What's your name... stranger?”

Her tone was soft, airy, almost tired. She felt a lack of energy without her littermate.

He noticed the lack of energy she gave. Bran drifted somewhat back to her as she spoke, his body angled to her properly and his head tilting once before righting itself. "Godbrand" he gifted her quietly, his deep baritone lacking aggression or worry. He was sort of monotonous if one had to guess.

"Bran is fine, however" he added in case his title gave a sour note inwardly. He knew some wolves in the past didn't like it, considering they had their own gods or lack of gods to follow. It meant gods' blaze or gods' weapon anyway. Not very religious about just one deity. A pantheon is suited "do you normally patrol the borders, Heather?"

He should like to know everyone's 'job' here in Greenwood.
