Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

This was a strange place. The ground underfoot was soft, mushy with strange little plants. It was a weird, uncomfortable texture that Haku wasn't exactly sure how to feel about.

What were these little plants, exactly?

It wasn't repulsive, at least. She'd been interested enough to continue on, making a sort of path through the foliage and marveling briefly when water would spill out, making small rivers through the tiny leaves. It was a strange place, but one that seemed almost magical, as well.

Her trip up north had been uneventful, but that was likely a good thing. Haku'd had enough dramatics to last a lifetime and then some, so the lack of it was beginning to grow on her.

Just like these little plants were beginning to grow on her.

So distracted by the greenery, Haku was not paying attention to her surroundings, her guard down and her mind wandering. Should anyone else be lurking about, she'd be none the wiser.

The prince’s internal compass was off or this land was a maze. Etienne decided to blame the latter rather than take any responsibility for wandering in circles.

He had been here before and the encounter hadn't been entirely pleasant. Wolves were an ornery species or at least the ones from this land were. So far no one had appreciated the magnificence that was the Prince Etienne Belmont LaRose Anthelme. A pity really, that they had such poor taste.

Small paws stepped on the squishy succulents without much thought for their existence other than the uncomfortable shake of a paw from touching them. The small prince almost collided with something, scrambling not to fall flat on his face as he veered to avoid a wolf that he hadn't noticed at first. “ Excusez-moi!” he piped up, trying to get the wolf’s attention. “I almost broke a leg just now. What is so fascinating that you stopped still so suddenly?” he questioned, heart hammering away in his chest from his sudden shock.

He was more offended that she hadn't noticed him than the fact that he had almost fallen on his face in front of her. Surely he was more beautiful than these damn plants.
