Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

A low fog hung to the ground, swallowing one's limbs as they treaded through the pasture. Her ears twitched, the sound of swallows and others in the distance, but she could see them. Various life was floating about, all within the mist that held firm below the flora, low-land as it was, it brought a harmony as the sun rose to the morning. She could smell various tracks of loners and others alike, even an elk in the distance, but she could not see.

She roamed so.. Moving past as Miriam felt: it was time, to move forward in another direction. The temperate had been a bliss and those who remained were but a fond memory, but now was now the journey continue forward... She trotted through these lands, from a fresh morning of awakening, the maiden was determined to move forward.

^^

It had been a hot minute since the she-beast had come to their hunting grounds, having been a bit preoccupied with weaning the newest batch of demons but today she was on the move. Her lithe frame carried her through the pasture, the usual mist hanging in the air and making it difficult for those unfamiliar with these lands likely confused as to their turning point. Morag was betting on it, actually, desiring some fun that couldn't get ruined.

She smelt them, the scent of loner lurking and moving through the mist. Morag's tongue came to slither across her lips as her head ducked down between her shoulders, her blades sticking up as she swept through the mists at a distance, her trained eyes attempting to seek out their legs through the bottom of the mists.

"Oh, is it play time?" Morag cooed to the mists, intending to keep on the move as to confuse the other where her voice was coming from. ^^

The fog wrapped around, coiled like a snake. It was growing harder to see the pasture around, that had her white eyes squinting lightly. She could make out the rising sun though, as it continued coming up and shine directly into her eyes ; momentarily blinding as a voice rang out. Someone was around, vaguely could smell the scent of another within the area, but downwind that she was, Miriam had trouble finding where so. Something about it was familiar though..

"Hello, is anyone out there?"

or was she mistaken?

Oh, wasn't she cute? She was untrained to the fog she willingly stepped into and she was a fool for it, Morag's favourite. She exaggerated a snap of her teeth as she shifted through the fog, trying not to get too close so that her form could be seen through the thickness. "You are bold," the she-beast cooed as she ducked her head, squinting through the fog to see her silhouette.

"To walk in the hunting grounds of a Pack," Morag would tut, "do you want to be the prey, precious?" She licked her lips as she stepped closer, coming through the fog so that her masked features and glinting eyes could be free from the fog, her teeth revealed in a mocking grin. ^^

The faintest smell of a musk hung in the air, the voice of a predator within the shadows who refused to reveal herself. Miriam could feel her heart thump within her chest. She took a deep breath, small reminders that the Goddess was with her and within guiding ; fate had lured her into the fog but for the meanwhile she remained safe in the guidance of the Horned God. Deep breathes ; inhaling that of the scent and the faintest whiff of a pack she had missed. The fog drenched the ground, the faintest feeling of dew between her paws.

"I must apologize," Miriam responded as she licked her chops, "I did not realize this was pack grounds. I can leave."

The voice indicated she was unwanted.
