Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

^^The civil war had been meant to serve as a distraction to sneak the children out for a better life. Instead, it would come to mask their screams and the scent of blood as Aliah came to end their life. It was his job to snuff out the competition that was his own brothers and sisters. This kingdom was his, and he wasn’t going to let anyone else take it from him.

To his surprise, when he came for them, they were being aided by his mother’s servants; but they were smaller and weaker than he was.

Aliah was not worried.

There was a deafening roar, and then… darkness.

Thud.

Arcane’s little body hit the ground and the little cub rolled over, slowly standing and looking around. Where was he? How did he get here? His little nose wiggled, and he took a few steps forward.

“Hallo? Am lost.. ”

So many scents. None of them smelled like the Dominion. And everything looked the same. Had they escaped?

^^Isabella Astor had left the grounds of Elkshire some many, many, many months ago to find herself. She had gone for a swim in her kingdom, and arrived into a completely different setting, with different wolves and a completely different atmosphere.

And no matter how hard she’d tried to go back home, in the way she’d gotten here, she had failed. So, Isabella had done something that she had never done before; she had looked to the skies, and whispered a prayer.

A prayer of hope.

A prayer that would, hopefully, get her home, back to her people.

Thud — What was that? Had something fallen? One of her people, perhaps, coming to aid her?

What came, within the night, was not what she had expected. It was much unlike any other creature she’d ever seen. Feline, no doubt; but a babe. What’s this? It could speak?

Isabella came upon the babe; harmless right now, but if she didn’t snuff him out? A danger, later on. Her hackles rose, a low growl surfacing from her throat as she proceeded forward, lunging towards the kitten.

The normally quiet and calm tiger had been making his way down south, finally coming to a more foresty area. He hated it here and was already planning his trip back up to the snow and the mountains. As he walked though, he had heard a thud not too far away, ears twitching as he searched for whatever that was. About the time that he rounded a tree he saw everything all at once.

His eyes first went to the cub before flickering to the shewolf that was aiming to pounce on him. Normally, Rajani wasn't one to harm women, but he drew the line at children. So, without much of a second thought or even an attempt to figure out what happened, he would pounce as well, though his target was the wolf. He would aim to slam his body into her, not caring how much force he used. He was a large tiger, much larger than any wolf. A full brunt slam against a wolf's side could easily cause broken ribs or worse. But, he didn't seem to care about that right now.

All that could be heard through the forest was a loud, angry snarl, one that he knew if Reiko heard, she would quickly run as far away from him as possible.

skipping zion for now

She hadn’t paid too much attention to her surroundings; she hadn’t thought that she needed to. Tigers were a rare occurrence in these forests, weren’t they? So surely, the kitten was alone… until it wasn’t.

They had pounced, and Isabella was the victim. A collection of blacks and whites; the force of him crushing her some of her ribs and at least one of her legs. Isabella screamed in pain, attempting to fight him off, or something.

His snarl had been so loud..

She was surprised that he hadn’t torn her to pieces. Though she was certain that he soon would..

She grunted a low whine, attempting to stand, but finding she could not. She glared up at the tiger, expecting him to finish her off, and tried to crawl away from him, howling to help.

Someone had to be out there.

Someone had to hear her.

  • Graphic Violence
His initial attack had been successful, almost feeling her bones break under his force. Skidding to a halt, he looked over at her crumpled on the floor, a cruel snarl on his lips. For the first time in years, it felt like he was back home again, with a gun in his hand and pulling the trigger. He wasn't a saint in his previous life and therefore, couldn't really be considered one here either. He had hundreds of peoples bloods on his hands, so what would make a wolf's blood on his paws that much different?

Of course, he had multiple options here. He could choose to end her now and be done with it, he could even help her and call for one of the pack that lingered around. Or, he could turn and pick up the cub by the scruff of it's neck, letting out a warning snarl as he did so. And that was exactly what he did, eyes narrowed as they watched her. "Wrong fucking move." He spoke in his typical thick Russian accent, though it was much deeper and much scarier then he usually spoke, no longer attempting to tone down the bass in his voice to sooth those around him.

With that, he would turn to leave, not giving a shit if the crumpled pile of wolf lived or died. Either way, he did what he did and, much like in his human life, would walk away and never talk about it again.

Some part of her, continued to want to wish and break apart in the midst of the forest. But she constantly reminded herself within deep breathes, that crying, never did anything. When she did there was silence or otherwise the agony of those who instead of comfort, caused pain to her. She shuddered lightly, a bitterness wrapping her as she trotted through the forest, angered, mistrusted, overall feeling the world was simply.. Not fair, and a mild cursing, to the High Elk. Like her mother, a jealousy started to form, and a disinterest as well. For what God would curse her like so?

Her ears flickered, the sound of something in the distance and blood flittering her nose. She crinkled lightly, looking back whether any would follow her so but there was no one.. And she continued on, a strange pulling that brought her to the steps of a wounded wolf. She was breathing lightly, so lighly — in death that she was that reminded her of how Seaver looked, when Faust had approached his already dead body.

But she was an adult. An adult of pure-browns and not like the man who attacked her, or the sister that scorned her. Faust's heart drummed, her breathing was rapid as she felt but a room twisting on staring at this wolf who was as helpless as she was, over and over. Rage was taking, sadness as well and all she could think was for once, she was not the victim, for once, there was a light power staring at a half-dead wolf before her.

^^He could have given her an end as swift as his attack had been; to take her out of her misery, but no. No, instead, he’d taken the little cub and left her for dead, with one final message: wrong fucking move, in an accent so thick she had to really concentrate on what the hell he was saying for her to understand him.

But by that time, the two tigers — assumed father and son — had left her, and she was alone. Soon, came another. A wolf, this time, who was more inclined to help her. A young female of dark chocolates and marshmallow, with eyes so bright, they almost looked white.

“H-help me, please.. ” Isabella begged with a whimper.

The words that Faust uttered soundlessly, never making it to the outside and a calling from her soul, but she vocalized. Unknown to who she was, but Faust thought nothing. In a haste did she grab a mouthful of Nightshade from a near bush, and eagerly started moving over, not even realizing what she was doing as she was quickly stuffing these poisonous berries in the face of this wolf. What she dreamed of doing to Edith, what she dreamed to doing to the red-eyed devil!

What she wished she could do, and yet was always powerless.

But not this time.

It was too hasty, in mere' seconds that it simply seemed uncanny, almost destined of this fate she was inflicting. Like something took over just for a moment when Faust realized that for once, she wasn't staring death in the eye, and that she was death. A sadistic satisfaction that to control a fate that she could not toward herself, and finally though all the efforts of preparation that failed again and again.. Was coming true.
