He recognized this place. The falls where he and Blackfoot had been before Haldis. The waters frozen over a small waterfall. Here he had spent the rest of the night, away from Haldis borders for the first time in a while... since his joining to assist in the creation of Sorina's pack - and just as quickly he had set it all ablaze. Letting feverish hatred and memories poison his usually calm, calculated thoughts into a hurricane beyond his control.

As the early morning kissed the skies, he barely slept a moment. His single eye peered out into the darkness, incapable of letting sleep take him tonight and perhaps later in the day, when the sun's warmth caressed him, maybe then he would be able to relax and slumber after an eventful night. For the time being, he remained laying in his spot, nestled on a rock with his back against the falls, above him the branches of an evergreen. Gathering on his coat were glittering speckles of frozen dew, spat up by the trickling waters nearby that sat politely on his coat, never daring to go in deeper and touch the tender skin below.

She had crashed in her den satisfied.

Yet alone.

It was the first time since leaving her home. That she had woken up with something amiss. A slight pang of disappointment? Of… perhaps, restlessness? Unease tapped into a lonely heart; even as the sun peaked beautifully through the decorated mouth of the den; it did not warm her in the way that she wanted.

Brows furrowed as she rose. Perhaps… it was emotional exhaustion from the past few days? The raid had taken the toll upon them all and especially… what came after.

She was restless, that much she knew. Something gnawed at the pit of her stomach; a feeling that she could not shake. She did not like being left, disregarded with no proper airs or graces.

Most of all, she had let him leave.

Why? She should make an example, or at least forge a punishment…


Jaws clamped together, she soon found herself wandering away from the safety of Haldis. Her paws carried her unbeknown, for she was deep, deep within the musings of her mind.

So much so, that when her paws found solid ice, she almost slipped. Lest a gasp befall her lips. It was only then, that she found herself upon vague familiar ground. She had spent some time here before the rise of Haldis. She had met that man here… @Campion

It was pretty, frozen. Forever enclosed.

Just like it should be.

Memories replayed themselves over and over in his mind like some kind of recorder. Teasing and taunting him as he tried to ignore their mockery of his confusing emotions. He had never been taught how to deal with them. Men were never supposed to deal with such trivial things. Men only did a few things; eat, fight, and fuck. To him, he was taught women were only good for one thing - creating more men with the help of another. For years it had left him empty and confused, and perhaps if he had been taught how to manage the inner turmoil, he wouldn't have made so many fuck ups these past few years.

A voice caught his attention. Down and retired for the night, and morning, but not out. The paladin was always aware and a single ear cocked to catch the sound. He recognized it immediately.

Had she come to drive in the nail deeper than she already had? Or was there something else. He wasn't certain. Certainly it wasn't to see if he was okay, after he had left her in the snow after adultery. After he had ravaged the queen of Haldis, he, a lowly creature.

“You're far from home.” Baritones called out as he rose to meet her. Staying a certain distance away despite their shared moment. An ear and a half splayed on his head, both furious at himself and her - but also cautious and confused. His words, a half-cocked threat. She was far enough from Haldis without a guardian.

Her thoughts had encompassed her too much to truly notice her surroundings. Low and behold the exact problem was staring back at her. Yet there was a difference, there was no terror in his expression, not now. No, there was that calm indifference.

As if nothing had ever happened.

A Dark ear flickered at his comment. A thoughtful hum rolled off her tongue. The same can be said for you. Her tone, too had changed. Now she was as prim and as proper as before. Haldis’ Queen. Rosencrantz’ superior. Yet she guessed the meaning behind his words. Was I truly that horrible to make you tuck tail and run, Rosencrantz?Was he afraid? Of himself? Of the beast that lurked beneath…

Or are you afraid of what might happen now? Dark lips pulled back into a smile that was almost predatory.

Their back and forth began. The rushing waters of the frozen falls at their side echoed as they spoke vile words to one another. Twinkling lights of ice frozen fluttering between them caught the growing light of day. Making a toxic moment, sickly magical.

He was awful. Terrible. He could barely contain the feeling that arose, arousal as though his body expected another round and he simply growled instead. A low rumble to calm his nerves in a different way.

“I take it you normally let any man screw you.” He'd shoot back with fire. She knew very well what she was doing, that was for certain. He wasn't imagining it, he was certain of it now seeing that smile on her lips. She had planned it all from the beginning. “You may not be any different from her after all.”

What was she playing at now? The paladin's tail snaked as he stood there with a cautious eye, making sure his breaths were steady as he studied her... barely hiding the way his eye traced the lines of her slender legs. How they quaked just moments ago.

He shot back with an intensity of a burning flame, a forbidden challenge that set the ends of her fur on edge. But oh, she knew how to play this game, for what she did not know that it was truly the calling of her blood. Lesser creatures are the playthings of my will. A blink; he tried to put a chink in her armour and it had failed. She looked at him with a stone cold glare, yet she wanted to sneer. To snarl. Perhaps this time she would be the one to force him to the ground and stain the purest snow with crimson blood. “You have forgotten your place, Her tone was calm. Too calm. Too peaceful, for such an insult. Now her tail would raise over her spine. Now her maw would crinkle.

Dark ears pinned to her crown at his next comment. Regardless, even a beast like you should have better manners than to leave a lady so quickly. She spat the words from her maw as she stepped closer. Close enough to smell him. Her. Them upon his fur. As his gaze devoured her, it set a different kind of wildfire to blaze within her stomach.

She ghosted her dark muzzle close to his own and breathed into his ear. Is that truly how you should speak to your Queen?.

Perhaps he has. Perhaps he never truly knew his place in Haldis seeing as he had a shallow loyalty to the crown which sat atop her pretty little head. He had pledged nothing but a footsoldier for the time being, and any day he could wander away without a second glance. She had yet to earn his loyalty after all.

Even a beast like you should have better manners than to leave a lady so quickly. He frowned. Sneered as he fought the desire to strike her. To initiate a new fight between them. One that could end either horribly, or the same as the last... neither of which he was ready for.

Instead, he chose a different route. One far less chivalrous if one could even see striking a woman as anything but. There was a fire burning in her just as it did with him - remembering her moans and how she felt, it gave him the power to grin in return. Only lightly as it curled the corner of his lips. Returning the favour, he whispered in her own ear. “It's how I speak to whores.”

She had won enough from him. It was his turn to change the tides.

Back and forth, this way and that. This thing that they had was something Sorina had never experienced before. She did not sleep with many men, for she was more focused upon her goals and survival. But that did not mean that she did not enjoy the carnal pleasures of life.

But this… this was something more, this was anger and fire. And hatred all for a ghost that he saw in her eyes. But it was one thing spending nights of lust, but Sorina was a bad looser. She was a woman who never lost.

“It's how I speak to whores The words were like an anvil to her chest, piercing and concaving the armour and setting her eyes ablaze. Get out. Her voice was a deadly whisper. But oh that gaze, if it could kill, it would cut him right where he stood.

Sorina roared in a snarl and went straight for his muzzle. She found it easily and yanked with all her might. Crimson blood splattered upon virgin snow. She had never known anger this badly, this intensly. It was one thing to project it upon her enemies but-this, his fowl words only deserved one punishment. And it would be by her own jaws.

But she knew better, she could not over power him. She could not beat him in battle. So she would do worse.

She wrenched herself free. And spat out the small chunks she tore. on his good side. You are no longer a member of Haldis. Come back and you shall be killed on site. Her snarl was gluttonous, pinning her ears to her crown. I never want to see that fuck ugly scarred face of yours again.

She turned, then.

And left him to bleed out in the snow.

In bittersweet he had claimed victory in this verbal tug-of-war of theirs. Sorina grew furious at his accusation. Lashing out and spitting his own flesh and blood back at him, to which he didn't retaliate or return the motion. He only remained stoic, letting his gaze stare at her unapologetically as she cast him out of Haldis.

Her words were aimed to wound, something he had heard time and time again before. In his waking world and haunting dreams. It was only a repetition of his time with Rhælla. Doomed to fail as it once had prior to this. “I would never see a harlot as my queen.” Was all he had to say in return as he watched her walk away for a moment before he himself turned in his own direction to walk away. Away from the falls Sorina had come to find him in for whatever reason.
