Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Some stayed within the glade, others dispersed and some hadn't seen in a long while. The companions she first had and wondered where had they gone? A man, a woman, a wolverine.. Even the horse. But she supposed that was the life of a loner, a wanderer who laid claim to none except stayed within the glade. She was content though to where she was, not particularly interest in any packs at the moment and find with living with but a few other strays as well.

Her mind often was clouded by Lore and their.. She wasn't sure what to describe the situation anymore. Even the feelings of heartbreak long forgotten, and the first-sight of a crush had dwelved to nothing more then a companionship. Mind could only be filled with one ; and though Uriel knew not, her heart did. But she wondered where @Niklaus was, and whether he was still around? It wouldn't be a surprise to find him one day gone, but nonetheless sought him out for a moment of companionship.

With his ego boosted and his satiation postponed, Klaus returned (or, well, extended his stay) once again to the glade.

He could admit he had hung around the area after the evening he had spent with Sachiko. Despite her having other responsibilities - a pack to return to, to name one - he hadn't quite been able to depart the area without reminiscing. The bachelor had spent the night tucked into one of the many uprooted trees that surrounded the field, comfortably curled around the roots as though he didn't have a care in the world. The first time he had slept rather soundly in months, he imagined.

His head was still thrumming with mind-numbing bliss when a familiar scent wafted over the sprinkling of grass. A welcome one at that - someone he knew would only brighten the edges of his day. It only took a few seconds for him to rise to his feet, although unsteady and still groggy from his extended nap. He didn't try and call out to her just yet. Klaus peeled away from his resting spot, his expression more relaxed than usual, seeking her presence out among the golden light. When the small frame of a girl came into view, he paused, giving her time to register him nearby before finally speaking.

"Still outshining the sun itself, are we?" His familiar nickname for her renewed once more, and he greeted her with a broad grin.

He was as equally as charming, someone who held a slick-tongue, and she wondered whether he and Lore would get along, or be polar opposites. With such similarities.. Uriel was slightly wondering about her own heart and decided to not think about it too deeply, feeling a flush crawl up her neck simply thinking about all it all and knew dreaming was but a useless endeavor, for after all — she never had hope to settle with someone..

Although that flush did creep up, when he complimented her more, "um," she whispered, "I don't think I can compare," Uriel said shyly as she gazed to the sun and squinted lightly to it's galore. Bright as usual and shined through the forest, mimicking gently to his own browns, "what have you been up to?" though the golden woman wanted to move on from topics concerning herself, and in a quick effort asked him by what she originally sought him for.

Mild curiosity of what his plans are, and have been.

Each time that incessant red glaze brushed Uriel's cheeks, Klaus felt a small swell of satisfaction. His eyes trailed her face, although he knew better than to press the subject. With her, he was resolved to staying his distance, weary that a stray nudge might frighten the smaller female back into the forest whence she came.

"Nonsense. The moon revolves around you," he added softly, dismissive of her own doubts.

Circling a nearby patch of grass, the brute would settle into a lazy crouch, leaning back on his haunches to watch her from only a short distance away. What had he been up to? Well. "I, uh," not usually one to stutter, he coughed, hoping to cover the slight transgression. "I met a girl. A woman. I suppose she's more woman than girl," Klaus chose his wording carefully, eyeing the wide, silver expanse of Uriel's gaze for any hints of emotion.

"I don't know. She just - well. She's something." Something to him, maybe. Something aggravating and enticing, all the same. He wasn't sure. He wasn't even sure why he was discussing this suddenly with Uriel. It had just .. come out.

Realizing he was beginning to lose track and stammer, he shut his mouth, staring at some point in the distance beyond his friend. If he wasn't careful, he'd fall. And perhaps he couldn't climb back out.

A flimsy crush had presented itself to Klaus ; she was smitten by his charming looks and ways, so soon after being heart-broken by the red-eyed man. A woman who was quick to develop small crushes on others, but she knew it would never be true. Although it was perhaps the first to have left moments later, as her thoughts entertwined with another who was quite similar to himself — but even then, she couldn't help but feel a light pain in her heart to hear this.

But he was a friend, and she should listen. Shackling that feeling and presenting a smile, subtly sweeping his compliment aside — she was never good at those, "She has caught your eye?" perhaps then it was time for him to depart, "is she from somewhere nearby?" oh, but Uriel would be downcrested to this, but all she could do was smile at his journey.

He was too busy staring holes into the scene around them to notice the way Uriel's face fell at his confession. It felt odd to hear himself talking so fondly about one girl - instead of the horde of them. So specifically intimate in a way that sent shivers across his chest at the sound of it, uncomfortably aware of how his heart leapt when thinking of how she smelled. It was a sizzling, welcome interruption - the idea that he had left her smelling more like him and he smelling more like her.

"No. She lives near the mountains, closer to the snow." He admits, still caught in his own thoughts but slowly crawling out with each time Uriel addressed him. He wasn't sure how much information he wanted to give his friend - perhaps the notion that he knew little secrets about her whereabouts made it all the more worthwhile to keep.

"Enough about me, though. What have you been up to?" His head finally swiveled to focus the majority of his attention on her, hoping she wouldn't fault him too much for his random lapse of focus.

"The tundra is quite dangerous.. Perhaps it's a good thing she caught your eye," she said with a light smile as he didn't answer so ; but they both knew it was quite clear. He was thinking about her, and though Uriel would wish perhaps one would think the same about her — she could only wish this friend a fair luck in his love-life. An unrequited crush that she believed would never come true, and was quicker to diminish that flame for the better ; and she was glad she did, for his eyes looked to be set on her.

"Oh, nothing really," she said with an awkward smile, "i've been staying in the glade more."
