Cold. Unfamiliar. Wrong.
The Grand Sin stirred, consciousness returning like embers struggling against dying coals. His body—his form—felt heavy, sluggish, as though it had been wrenched from one existence and carelessly thrown into another. The air around him was thick with an eerie stillness, broken only by the distant murmur of unseen waters and the restless rustling of wind through twisted trees. The scent of damp earth and unfamiliar flora invaded his senses.
This was not his domain.
Slowly, he opened his eyes. A sky he did not recognize stretched above him—neither the crimson-stained horizon of conquest nor the abyssal void of judgment.
He pushed himself upright, rolling his shoulders, feeling the weight of displacement settle deep into his bones. Where was he? And more importantly—who had dared to tear him from his path?
Then, movement.
A presence.
Not one of his own.
His head snapped toward the disturbance, instincts sharp despite the lingering haze of forced transition. There, a short distance away, lay another figure—still, unmoving, but unmistakably alive.
A woman.
She did not bear the markings of his order, nor did she resemble any soul bound to his dominion. Yet, she too had been cast here, into this fractured world of. This vast land unknown. He watched as her chest rose and fell in shallow breaths, her own awakening imminent.
His expression remained impassive, but his mind burned with questions. Why was she here? Why had they both been brought to this place? If this was a game of some unseen force, then he would not play it blindly. Or maybe it was merely a dream? It did not feel like one.
Stepping forward, his voice cut through the unnatural hush like a blade.
“Wake. Speak your name.”
The demand was not a request. If she was an ally, she would prove herself. If she was an enemy—he would see how long this strange land could remember screams.
