Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

She lived, and she died.

Running through the mountains did she go, the reason long lost and never to be found, and yet tripped on her own paws. Tumbling, as she went, Rin fell down the mountains just to meet an unfortunate fate. Through the trees did she barrel through, and there did the young, french woman slam into one.

And there, did it pierce her heart.

Rin passed away in a quick, and swift death, hanging lightly on the tree.

^^

He hadn't expected the scene he found.

Tiberius had stared at her unmoving form, his molten gaze not unused to seeing the dead yet it hit him differently when it was one of his. One of his, he thought angrily, forlornly -- one of the wolves who had help make Duskguard a reality. The titan swallowed as he approached her, no scent of anyone other than a Duskguardian on the air and no look of foul play, only a case of bad luck.

The titan would grit his teeth as he approached, tilting his head down to nose against her cheek. "Rest easily, darlin'," he rumbled, shutting his eyes for a moment as he held his nose to her cheek. The loss clung to him and he pulled his head back, thinking that if they hadn't already thought of it, they would need a burial grounds for their dead. He'd not bring Rin near the den for the girls to see, instead he would tilt his head and offer a short howl, hoping to capture the attention of @Olive.

The Priestess would have a way to properly bury Rin, he was certain. ^^

Olive had become so accustomed to the happy feelings and elation that accompanied being with Tiberius, that this scene took her almost entirely by surprise. When he had called for her, she bade his call eagerly, even with the recency of the birth of their litter; she left the sleeping pile under the watch of the feathered @Lounatuuli and followed the croon of his voice, until the scent and sight of blood overtook her.

Almost immediately her heart was wrenched, realizing after a second's pause what befell the poor, star-crossed Rin. Rin, the woman who had helped her re-connect with Tiberius and became the foundation of Duksguard itself! It didn't seem fair, for her life to be taken to suddenly, when Olive believed she had so much left to see and achieve in this life.

"I didn't think we'd have to dig a grave so soon," she muttered to @Tiberius, head hanging, unable to prevent a tear from rolling out of the corner of her eyes, across her cheek, and onto the ground.
