Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

@Pike, @Tennessee, @Stjörnuáti, @Lore, @Sorina, @Rosencrantz, @Blackfoot, @Eldritch, and guest of honour @Guildenstern! And ofc this is Thalia's second heat day out of 5

For no good reason other than "because we can", upon Thalia's return to the icy cavern with her heat in its second day - the itch to do something kept pushing her to make a move. To rustle some feathers and rudely welcome a new pack she had found on her little travel to the great white North.

She called to the men who lay within, probably lounging around licking their nutsacks if she had to guess and didn't wait long before announcing her plan. “Get your asses moving boys, I'm calling a raid!” Was all she said for now. Once their small group of bandits was gathered, they were off. Crossing the Tundra quickly with some rest in between. Taking a day and a half to arrive at the destination.

To do something was their main goal... but if they can get fat on the resources of a nother pack and show their strength, well, that would be just a bonus at the end of the day.

Upon their arrival, Thalia didn't stop. They would take the pack by force and rush in, fighting anyone who stood in their way and getting as close to the prize as possible. It brought a sharp grin to her face as she thought about eating their food and taking their medicine right in front of their noses as they licked their wounds.

They were nothing if not a bunch of shit disturbers.

Charging through the perpetually frozen land, chilled even in the summer sun, Pike stayed close to Hothi's side, nipping her ass when he got the chance.

Breezing through the weak pack borders, the flecked fellow barreled in with an identifiable battle cry.

Something was in the wind as he stood on the borders shadowed by tall, snow-dusted evergreen trees. For a while now he could smell a few wolves on the wind from the West. Their smell lingered on the wind and he, cautiously, remained trained on the smell and watching the horizon to keep an eye out. He suspected they were just passing by and wouldn't even see them from where he stood. As the sun moved through the skies the scent still lingered... getting stronger and he, was standing on the edge.

Guard hairs lifted along his back as he spotted the small group approaching, their pace fast, not breaking once as they approached quickly. Whatever it was they wanted, he sent out a call for Sorina and the others - he was not the diplomatic type and if they were here to talk to the Queen, he may as well preemptively call her and alert the others to approaching wolves on their borders.

The cry from one of their men was enough to spur him into action. Cutting out from the trees to slow them down at the very least until others arrived. A few barks and snarls rang out into the frigid air, his own way of letting the approaching Haldis members know that danger was afoot and what to expect when arriving after his call.

Eldritch was not the type to fight for the sake of fighting.
But she was definitely the type that would kick ass and take names if she absolutely needed to.

Today was a rare day that she would need to become a Berserkir.
A fearless, savage Warrior. Something more like her sister would be...

As Rozencrantz sent up the alarm, Eldritch was already sprinting to join him and every other Haldis member that would come to the call of defending their home.

A vicious, almost otherworldly series of snarls and ripping barks would erupt from the incoming Seer, a speeding bullet with the unknown names of their home's assailants etched into the metal.

The ravaged barks and Rosencrants' howl meant one thing and one thing only. Invaders. Sorina leaped onto her paws in an instant, slow splaying from her dark paws. She dove forwards as fast as she could, arriving at the scene to see unfamiliar faces ravaged for war. "Who dares threaten me?Sorina's voice boomed against the howling winds. She would not give them an opportunity to talk. She would not allow them any further. It was clear that they were not here for a friendly chat. Like rabid animals, they snapped their jaws and gnashed their teeth. Her tail rose and curled over her spine, dark ears pinned to her ebony crown, as a snarl rippled from her lips. How dare they think they were capable? Who even were they? "Leave. Trouble is not welcome here!" She spat through clenched jaws, trashing her tongue over primed canines.

She cast a look to those at her side. "Wolves of Haldis," She beckoned to her companions. "Defend our home!" With her rallying cry, she took up a defensive stance, awaited for the rhythm of the war drums to begin.

It seemed history would repeat its self once more.

She heard the alarm go up from Rosencrantz. An invasion? Of course. She came from her den, lips first set into a straight expression and then it morphed into a snarl as she saw the invaders.

She preferred hunting to fighting but she knew how to defend herself and would use her skills to help her new packmates. She rallied to her alphas call and spat a vicious snarl at the wolves. ”Fuck OFF!” Of course, she knew that the words would fall on deaf ears but she could still vent her anger at them. She was ready to launch into battle.

He was on his companions’ heels! His jaws were split into a wide smile, tongue lolling out. ”Let’s raise some hell!” Woohoo! Fuckin’ chaaoooss! Yeah!

In a show of such chaos… he would launch himself into a tree with a few quick jumps. It was his way of setting his advantage to jump down on his first opponent. He followed from above, eyes wide and excited as he went from tree to tree like a tongue of flame… who was his first bitch?

 He was hunting.

He wanted to fill the caches.

But the calls of the Haldis wolves fell on ears all too far to reach them in time.
I should of been there, Esmeray thought guiltily, scrambling among the snow to get back to Lady Paramount and the other Denziens.

Quickly, quickly, quickly, his brain ordered, sprinting through the snow. Late, late, late, he could tell they were in danger.
Danger, danger, danger. Esmeray ran, ran and ran to get back to the Queen.

 Would he be too late?

What if they were all dead when he got there?

3 rounds out!

rosencrantz had an uncanny aversion for death. and therefore, here never had to worry about his brother. if anything, they would always push each other when they were younger: egos swung around flatulent and susceptible to any praise. the paladin could be skinned and cleaved, killed fifty times, and rosencrantz would still find a way to walk. he hung around haldis like apparition, on the fringes of anyone's vision only to quickly be gone like the wind; the "who" when you ask, who's there? in truth, the tundra complemented him the best, the familiar lowing of muskoxen and the unmerciful landscape. it reminded him birserkir, but fondly would not be the adjective he would suggest.
it wasn't until he heard rallying in the distance did he feel tugged by fate again, to assist his brother in battle if needed. it was not just a matter of familial duty to the one who, if he would admit it or not, had been his only equal ( despite past grievances, e.g. resigning to be subject to the rule of some high queen ); it was habitual action that always would be met with succession if he was near.

arriving to the scene of the raiders rapping their knuckles on haldis' door haphazardly, he looked to rosencrantz for any indication of what they were to do, not acknowledging too much of @Sorina out of habit. they would all come and go, but somehow they always managed to find — and fight together, these two twin swords.

The nips upon her flank by Pike spurred her onward. The drumming of her heart and the beating of thundering paws against the snow brought lightning to her veins. One scar-faced man sounded the alarm, drawing out the members from the woodwork - no matter, she thought to herself as the vicious smile displayed on her face never faded. This was all for the fun of it, this would get their blood pumping and without fear or second-guessing she ran forward. Yelling out, nearly cutting off what she suspected to be the queen with her own battle cry. “WELCOME TO THE NORTH, BITCH.”

First round is posted!, pls get your dice rolls finished before Monday!

Sorina and the others were quick to arrive. Guildenstern had also made an appearance to fight with his brother for the first time in what felt like a lifetime ago. However they were not barbarians this time around, but warriors. Soldiers with a higher purpose than the selfish greed that they were raised with. Blackfoot had also arrived and gave her own battle cry, one who would fall on deaf ears as their opponents closed in and all bodies prepared for a clash of blood and fangs.

At least this time, as he squared off against a dark-coated man - he wouldn't be standing alone on the battlefield but with others at his side. Something he hadn't and perhaps could never get accustomed to as he often spent his time and battles solo - but it was a welcomed change for once.

guildenstern's hoarish fur fringed and unkempt stared into the eldwyrm's maw.

the wilding was thriving in the blaze of her own, sprouting fires as she turned the tone of day into a hell for haldees. guildenstern pursued hothieriel first after one of the everfrost's own, his own teeth sheathed by his cold limned lips.
