Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

@Blackfoot

With a pelt held within her maw, Aries was off to forage. She attempted to look near waters particulary, where herbs may most likely grow despite the cold. If they were not frozen, it was a better chance to find more to bring back to Duskguard. At the point she held plenty that were helping within childbirth, and didn't neccessary lacked otherwise.. But always felt it was nice to keep a plentiful of, for the days that anything bad were to happen. Especially knowing more of the politics that laid around ; Aries wanted to do her part.

And so nose to the grind-stone, she was shifting through the grass.

Haldis was just barely off the ground but so far the dark she-wolf felt satisfied. They had a pack to help support them and missions to help fulfill. She wasn't sure how pleased she felt at the idea of having to pioneer alliances but she supposed she could give it her best effort. So, when she smelled the scent of another that was interlaced with the telltale pack scent, she found herself veering towards the other wolf rather than away.

She walked down the hillscape, carefully picking her way down stones and shrub until she was on stable ground, several yards away from the other wolf. "Greetings." She called out, in her even tone. She studied the other female, noting her tall but light build. Fleeing if things turned south likely wouldn't be an option... perhaps incapacitating her then warning those of Haldis would be the best course of action if it came to violence... though she doubted it would. "Which pack are you from?" She didn't want to waste time, felt it pointless and would rather exchange information and learn what she could so a possible alliance or friendly relations could be made.

The land was strange, many plants she saw that though bloomed during one season appeared in another ; albeit, in short quantities but enough where she felt blushed by the sheer amount of luck. Or maybe it was just due to luck with the climate and being closer to somewhere else, as the avalanche lilly bloomed lovingly before her. Paws lightly to the ground — for the prize not was the beauty before, but the roots to treat that of sores. She was smiling ear to ear with this discovery, all the more pleased to bring to the vale ; but before able to dig, another approached.

They were dark, hinted not like that of Tiberius, but more of rock dipped into the ocean — for even her smell matched so. Light of seasalt, and wondered just how close they were to the sea.. But rather, she also smelled of Haldis, and Aries looked at her with a curious smile and an ear flick, "Hello," she greeted, "I am from Duskguard," her snout pointed north, "we claim that vale of mountains."

Her gaze betrayed nothing of her inner thoughts as she stared at the other she-wolf. At the indication of where she'd come from, she would turn her gaze to look at the peeks in the distance. Noted. She nodded her head once, a show of understanding before returning her gaze back to the woman. "Lead by?" Important information to know, especially if said leader was right in front of her.

Although... it was probably offputting if she didn't offer information of her own. Information for information... Since the other had already given her home location, she felt a name wouldn't hurt for her own. A name was far less damaging than a place, not that she worried of being attacked by this Duskguard. Not if they housed seemingly peaceful wolves like this. "Blackfoot." A pause and then, "Of Haldis." Her name, even given without context, it should be obvious enough.

They were quite forward in curiosity, asserting to know of information that wasn't so tightly tucked away that was an easy give. She thought that Haldis was quite a worthy guard if so, as Blackfoot looked diligent in her ways, "By Chief Tiberius and Priestess Olive," she said smiling peacefully. Arriving to them and welcomed fully, the place was quite kind and wondered whether the newly named pack that lived nearby, as the same?

"A pleasure to meet you Blackfoot, I am Aries Winterwald." Her name was a bit particular, and couldn't help but think it also suited quite closely to her. Darkened in form like of a stormy sea, and her feet just as black as the name-sake itself.

Olive and Tiberius. She gave a single nod of her head in understanding. Easy enough to remember. "Open to alliances. You aware if they're looking?" She could only assume that this one wasn't super high ranking but neither was she... didn't mean that they couldn't be forward thinking and helping their packs out mutually.

To the introduction, the blunt she-wolf would answer with, "Likewise." Blackfoot was such a chatty woman...

"I had met your leader some time ago, and she too questioned about alliances. I had passed the words to my leaders." Perhaps a bit late to the convo (as thread was in progress) but now was the time the hare spoke up to vaguely knowing about them. Although alliances was still within talk (as that thread is also, in process), she nontheless saw it but a positive ending and maybe blooming relationship. Maybe it would diverge in an alliance, but who knew what it could evolve to.

They were rather straight to the point in conversation, back and forth about their packs, but Aries admittingly was quite curious of this woman, "have you always lived with Haldis?" although relatively knew, she was curious on how they came to be.
