Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

hoping for @Lore but otherwise AW!

It had been a while since she saw him.. Admittingly, part of her did hope he would chase after her, and yet knew it was her own fault for an avoidance. Looking at him gave some a shyness, an embarrassment and fluster of feelings that Uriel wasn't sure how to handle it. His words brought a twist within her stomach, an anxiety that felt similar to butterflies and yet more but pure flusteration that flooded her system — like something nagging her that this couldn't be real ; and she, wasn't someone who was able to do 'dates.'

She was ashamed. How selfish and childish she was, how she wished for something and yet couldn't find herself facing him — and it had been quite.. A while, that she was particularly getting lonely on the avoidance that was of many. She hadn't seen the other individuals she was familiar with either, Klaus, Strawberry, Khadne.. Was it wrong to even feel a slight remorse from departing from even the beast she feared, Kuhn?

Uriel was starved of familial interaction, that she couldn't help but look for the same man she was avoiding.

Lore didn't want to stay by the Glade. Every morsel of his brain told him to stay away. Stay away from her, but his body rejected his advances, apparently revealing his true nature. The Glade had entranced him, enthralled him, through every breath that he took. It intoxicated him more than it should've— but the problem was, is that he let it.

Uriel had been the one to consume much of his time. She had left a staggering mark on his ego the day that she took a high tail and ran from his sights, but he didn't let her get away so easily. But the thought lingered on his mind: would she do it again? Most certainly. Yet...Lorcan never minded a bit of a challenge. A challenge would invite him to try. Invite him to a new revolutionary exposé of his week. It distracted him from a plethora of different things. Such as wandering. It also gave him...something to do. What Uriel hadn't known, is that he had been marching over the edges of the glade, tempting to ward off strangers with his stench.

Speak of the devil. Lore rounded one of the trees of the glade only to be met with a back of gold. She had not noticed him yet. This was his chance to bolt— to bolt once and for all and to hell with a little goose chase that he had dipped his toes into. But his feet were grounded. Locked in place. He cursed under his breath, taking a deep inhale in, before he leaned against the treeside, looking her up and down.

"Lost in thought, tesora?" He kept his head leant back against the bark.  "Or perhaps...thinking of me?" He'd raise a curious brow, but let out a short laugh. He was clearly joking, but...was she? Lore was on the edge of his seat for an answer.

She wondered why some still bound themselves to the Golden Glade ; one that she wasn't trying to take for granted, but couldn't help but wonder why? Just as all do, come and go — and even the territory they were on would be claimed by another, one day. Unfamiliar territory to say the least, and she was having trouble tackling on how to deal with so, without pushing all away, despite the great need of attention and adoration.

Unknowingly her paws were searching for him, in that faint hope he remained bounded to the glade for some time more, "Oh, I wanted to apologize.. I'm not really used, to others." Mind and soul was searching and would admit with a nod as she lightly hung her head in that shame, formally apologizing to how she had been acted.

Lore's eyebrows bobbed up and down, momentarily raking in her golden physique. She matched the environment that clouded the glade— a soft-spoken entity that dribbled from the cress of the sun. A sun drop. He'd imagined that she tasted sweet.

He'd huff a short laugh, shaking his head. "Head up, angioletta. The world has beauty to offer, more than the ground." He wouldn't take any more steps closer to her, fearful that she'd run. Again. Lore would begin to take a stroll, lolling a slow gait around the mounds of long grass, tail sweeping against the ground.

"Show me some of your favorite places."

Her tail lightly swayed in the background, a meek smile glistening through her guilted gaze as it seemed one way or another, it had settled? But she did feel bad to how she treated him ; for Lore had been nothing but nice to her throughout his time in the Golden Glade — his time.. For a moment her chest panged, on the thought of losing of what was. Hard to gain any relationships within this land, although moments the two knew each other, she learned to cherish him so and the small link that there was. Her tail lightly swayed, as she bounded after him, inching in a more closer proximity.

Though her heart thumped, Uriel reminded herself that instincts to be swept away, there was no reason to run. She shouldn't.. Ruin the few bonds she did have. Internally she was bashing her head about what she did, even if she felt a light flutter.

"There's a fairy circle up ahead," her paw lifted and pointed, hidden behind some trees, "I like to sit in it.."

He heard her approach him from behind. Lore didn't let himself think twice about it. Not a flicker of his ear, twitch of his toe, nothing. If he had reacted in any way toward her, she would run. From him. Again. So, Lore would regress, leaving her to do the talking.

His head would jolt, almost shocked by her outward expression of moving her paw towards the treeline. Lore would hum in amusement, ears flickering, and awaiting for her to take the lead, take him further forward. He'd refuse to say anything, however— not wanting to overstep any boundaries anymore.

There was a silence that came, feeling the sweat between her paws and the warmth behind her ears. An awkwardness sizzling, as slowly coming through and she wasn't sure how to fill in the gap. Although her expressions continued to switch all over, as her ears flickered up and down with each motion she wanted to say, until in the distance the fated circle appeared.

It wasn't anything grand to say the least, but mushrooms in a circle, dubbed as a 'fairy circle.' She followed to Lore's side, looking up at him, then back at the circle, "I heard some call it a fairy's home." At least some part of her, found a courage to speak.

He'd follow her— of course he would. There were few places that he wouldn't, he realized it then. She kept walking at his side, casting him the occasional awkward glance, but he didn't indulge it. If she wanted to talk to him, she would. This would no longer what he had wanted— and it grudged him enough as is to know that she would simply run. What else would she run from?

A circlet of mushrooms stood before the haughty pair. A truly terrifying scene— Lorcan, as dark as a bear with the build of a lion; Uriel, golden like the setting sun with a meek build like a feline— standing together, side by side. This time when Uriel looked at him, he'd look back. She'd look away, towards the mushrooms, but he'd linger on her. Just for a little while longer.

"And...?" He'd say gently. "Can you talk to the fairies?" A playful smile played on his features. followed by a short laugh, becoming a bit comfortable with her presence again. Despite her aura, he didn't dare move. He'd move when she wanted him to. Like a gentleman.

She was flustered, and she didn't understand why. His amber gaze made her sweat, she could feel the warmth between her toes and upon her neck, a swiveling of ears as she knew he was looking at her. Nervous, to say the least, not something where was fear, Uriel knew for sure, but down-right in a nerve. An awkward smile, as she tried to forgo so and move onwards in a conversation.

"Oh, uhm, I never seen any.. But I heard they look tiny! Little, winged creatures. Maybe birds? But.. Wolf? I'm not actually sure." She started to trail off as she tried to remember what was heard about them ; although in truth she couldn't remember who told her that, Uriel just knew, "and that they're either very mischievous, or they're very saintly."

Uriel's awkward, flushed face made him snort lightly. It was cute in a way— her innocence, that is. He wished that he could have lived life the way she had; isolated in a paradise that no one seemed to want...except her. She had all this for herself— including the little fairies.

His ear quipped backward as she mumbled some enthralling history, or perhaps there was some hearsay about what she had learned. "Saintly...or mischievious?" The man would practically coo, a sly smirk pulling at his features. He always thought it was funny how vastly different they were from one another. She, an earthly saint herself that fell from the sky. Then it was him. Lore.

"And what do you think the fairies think of you, Uriel?"

"I heard they like to play pranks, and some mention that they enjoy swapping children for the pure amusement between themselves, and what will happen on that discovery." Toying little things she thought, "but I also had heard they are somewhat like guardians, for they will grant spells of protection if they take a liking to you.. Though I say 'but' again, because it was also said that not all their spells are good." In the end as her memories served, Uriel would toy that these individuals were.. Mischievous creatures in the end, that may mean well one way or another, but the definition of 'good' differs to culture to culture.

"I think they're playful."
