Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

This is an optional event.

Belial will be brought to the Leviathan's Depth, the cave underneath the fresh-water pond. His body will be led adrift, and sink into the unknown corridor that leads out to the sea. Guests are welcome to join from the aftermath of the boar event if they recuperated at the isle.

A rock will be placed in front of the pond as a representation of Belial existence of being there, being one of them, and being dropped into the abyss of the sea.

Finally, had the group returned home where it was not without a loss. She would say majority of the other ford members injuries were relatively light — but that was only at the cost of the loss life of another. There was a silence, a solitude coming back to the isle and bringing him home, to where the sea would embrace by splashing against and wrapping against their pelts on more. The smell of boars fading, and Vendrussel could only look at the group with a heartbroken expression.

"Belial had fallen by saving myself, and others from a boar attack. He was brave, venturing to help in a rescue of wolves who were not our allies, friends, and even friends for our enemies, who were there as well. And yet, we could not standby and watch the innocent be subjected to horrors. We witnessed many who were kidnapped, mothers and even the loss life of young itself — who we too, will think in memory alongside of him." A deep breath, though her paws were shakey she would face them all with Belial's fallen, and injured body before her. Speaking politely, loudly about what occurred, and what happened to him. Along his pelt, his chest, was the piercing of scarlet, just where the tusk of the king had smitten him.

"Within Leviathan's Depth, his body will be set adrift below into the depth's. My clan called this a castaway, where he will be embraced by the sea and darkness, protected by the guardian Mayndias, the dragon of death in depth, who will bring him to the afterlife, and the hope of reincarnation." One which he deserved greatly, even without the path ; there was always a chance. Vendrussel believed highly that he was one of those individuals — for one who was already a dragon, and brought to the mortal coils as a wolf..

Maybe one day he would return, just as they all have.

To those who wish to help carry his body, Vendrussel nodded at him ; and proceeded to lift her fallen comrade.. And slowly, would they start venturing to the lairs of the abyss.

Silence cast across the group of dragons like an unspoken bond between all of them, in quiet honor of the one who would not return home walking alongside them. This was not the first time Vedette had lost a comrade in the heat of battle. She did not know Belial. She'd seen him at the Dragon's Display, but it was brief, and she hadn't stopped to greet him. But if he was honorable enough to save Vendrussel's life by tossing himself in front of her, then he was truly someone to mourn. So in quietude, she walked, swam, breathed beside her fellow dragons until they reached the isle, where Ven addressed them all with a heavy heart. It did not take a genius to see it on her face. Her features hung low and muscles tired. Something in Vedette tugged at her legs, as if to go to the leader and pull her from the crowd, and settle her somewhere safer, more comfortable, so she could just be. But she knew this was not something Ven would want. She'd want to stand in front of them and send off the male in honor and legacy, so she stayed put.

As the commander explained what would happen to him, when they set him in the water, and afterwards into the afterlife, Vedette stared endlessly at her, offering her support from afar, a steady wall to lean on if she needed it. The dusk dragon rose for one reason only: to walk alongside those who wished to carry Belial's body into the unknown. Even though she was still not accustom to all the water activities that had come along with this new life, she would deal for the glory of the fallen dragon.

It would be a short moment, walking to the cave and slowly descending to the darkness ahead. Small light that allowed them to navigate with a bit of ease, but heaviness hung in the air. The fallen comrade, who was laid by the edge of the cave-depth pond.. And slowly, she would nudge him into this abyss. Drifting as he went, there would be a continual silence among all those who came to his funeral.. All the way until his body slowly drifted to the corridor in the back, a tunnel that no one truly knows where it went, but Vendrussel assumed to the sea itself.

Only then she would signal those to leave the burial site — another day she would invest into a celebration, one to celebrate his life and so-forth, but she felt it wasn't right. Not when it could be prevented, not when war still hung heavily in the air. Although, Vendrussel promised to herself silently, she would make it up.
