Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

She'd long given up on the prospect of home. Wherever that was. Instead, Vesta was rather taken with these wild lands, spending much of her days exploring its most nameless and sacred places. The mountains had provided an endless adventure, whose ancient spires reached like fingers into the sky, caves carved by thousand-year-old rivers. Sometimes, the grander adventures were in the most beautiful of places; a hollow nestled in the valley, abloom with wildflowers left untouched from the snowpacks above. White-barked aspen trees surrounded the small grove Vesta found herself lounging in, sprawled across a flat-facing rock, warmed by the retreating sunlight that dappled through the canopy above. The blissful golden hour alit everything in an orange and yellow hue, but the mountains were quick to swallow the sun, and soon was this place greeted with the chill of high altitude at night.

Vesta shivered.

A soft breath exhaled from her lips as she awoke. The sudden darkness that drew into the hollow disoriented her momentarily, but as her eyes adjusted, she could see the subtle glow of moonlight off snow from the mountains. She stretched, and yawned, but did not quite yet want to leave this place; thus, she remained, pulling herself to a sit on the very rock she'd been lounging, her hazel eyes peering through the trees and the mountains of the far beyond.

As Vendrussel surveyed the area, she found herself travelling up to the familiar hollows. She didn't smell any of the boars or anything else that would cause her to be on guard, but one never could be too wary. Lately she was feeling.. At peace, at coming to terms of what she had done and the overall situation ; but the appearance of others reminded her even if she moved forward, that doesn't mean others did. That didn't mean her actions did not cause harm, such as the memory of Aarkon, Ragnar, Sindri and Serenity. It brought back the fact: war was around, and now angry boars.

But the freshness of the hollows led one feel rejuvenated. The wind brushed, her fur wisping lightly as she lifted her head and closed her eyes just to relish in the moment. Just a tiny bit before moving on, for the sun was setting and she would need to retreat back to the isle. But upon that same wind, her nose twitched. The smell of another without a pack upon their pelt was well within the air, lightly her paws started to venture toward that mysterious foe, and there in the distance..

Was a rather beautiful woman.

"Hey there," Vendrussel greeted with a smile.
