Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

had she died again? teleported again to somewhere new? if she had, it was still as a wolf, still confined to this form that wasn't familiar, but not unfamiliar either. but did it matter? some floaty, dreamy feeling within her told her no, no it didn't. not right now, anyway.

what was more important?

the smell of flowers. the sound of water. the beatific, glowy haze that illuminated this land. there was something here, something different and... she couldn't place her finger paw on it.

“is this a dream?” she murmured to herself, looking at the next large leaf that floated down the river in front of her. what would happen if she got on it? would it sink? her weight shifted as she thought to find out, not realizing who was coming up behind her.

it was definitely a dream. how did she know? her anger felt... far away. as if it lurked beneath the surface of a lake, or in the clouds above. hazy. unreachable. and she definitely would have been angry upon turning and seeing him. but she was not, nor was she angry about the deplorable way he spoke about her (not registering the fact that she could actually understand the nonsensical garble that was his language).

“i don't feel like biting you, so it must be.” tallulah, though not angry, was still an unmitigated heathen, as her mother would so often call her. “on second thought,” she grinned, mischievous and mean spirited. “it is my dream, so i demand that you worship me.” the true test; dream? or annoying nightmare?
