Tension building thread for this next boss fight. Introducing King Gro'Mash. Set between the Borders of Northfall and Behmoths Brim. All welcome

It was a bad day to be a King. In fact every day was a bad day. Littering the ground where tufts of fur, and bones from some unfortunate lupine soul, the area generally reeked of death and unfinished meals.

It was a bad day because HE was hungry again. Hoisting himself to his feet, Gro'Mash's nearly two ton figure was once again mobile. Wiry hair began to stand in end, raised above his scarred body. Almost half of the massive swine, was covered in thick keloid scarring, only thickening an already dense hide.

Slamming a hoof down, it shattered through the dried skull of a a big cat of some sort. The tables had obviously been turned, as the predator had only added a couple of scars to the king, and been consumed by the towering swine.

Wretchedly squealing to the sky, the pig cried out for war. The whole world was meant to serve him, they would either provide their service or their flesh.

^^

Rarely did the cub find herself on the mainland, choosing to haunt the hunting grounds and the lands around it and today it found her spying something so ugly. Ugly and loud, Olympia's two least favourite things. It made a horrendous sound as it wrenched it's big head to the sky and she sneered, "shut up!"

It was prey and it was on grounds where it would join the carcass it just crushed, if it kept this up. It mattered not to the feline that it was bigger than her for she remained a safe distance away, simply looking upon him with dismay and disgust. Excuse them, where were the wolves to keep things like this from breathing?

"You know," the girl drawled as she sashayed closer but not too close, "you'll end up just like the rest of them. Dead, eaten and your bones decorating our grounds." He seemed awful confident for someone who was going to get eaten. Because someone else had to show up, right? ^^

His light was near and so was he. There would not be a day that he would let her too far from sight. It was his duty to keep her happy, to serve her in any way that she wished. It didn’t matter how.

When it heard the squeal, it felt no fear. Only determination to follow in its light’s shadow, coming abreast yet not in front of. Aiming to brush its pelt alongside hers, touch, approval… only if she would allow. It was not its duty to eclipse the sun but support the beautiful light.

The beautiful words of its sun quivered upon the air. It crept up, staring straight at the horrid beast before them. Its eyes unfocused yet staring at the hideous creature. No fear, only silence as it waited. What would happen?

"Papa," Peaches was one of the souls that wandered alongside the King. She looked around and did not see her knight in play and puffed her cheeks in an annoyance. Though it wasn't sure whether she truly was his daughter or not, so surely took the title and fought any other hogs who dared to claim so ; even secretly the prince's knowing their worth far outweighed her own. It was her place to stand alongside. Though she honestly didn't know whether he cared for stuff like that, and thus her reign continued to spiral into usual murders.

"They ugly." She snorted at the feline who dare spoke against their tribe, huffing and puffing without any indication she was going to go over and actually get them. That was peasant work.

she is currently not near the area and unaware what is happening

There was strange scents within the brim. She could smell the trails of Ghost and Olympia on the wind and it worried her so ; she wasn't comfortable with them roaming out.. Although with one being a tiger, and was grown to nearly her full-size, she'd be a devil to fight against. Then the other child who was picked up by the ford had a weird liking toward her, it seemed a follower to her mix where even she started to order him to do her dirty work ; and obviously so, Vendrussel was not pleased. There was confidence they'd be safe, but it was still an overall worry what troubles that they could bring or worsen an overall bad situation. Just as she requested everyone to play nice ; the dragoness knew at heart she would not be one of those.

But they weren't the only ones she could smell on the beach. In the distance she could hear the sounds of boars rummaging, and couldn't help but wonder whether they left the forest to experience the sea — unusual, she thought, but not totally out of the normal. Boars were relatively safe when alone at times, but their tusks were often a troublesome part if didn't get it right. To challenge one was to stand by for hours to wear down ; never to underestimate. She only hoped that the two weren't near a herd.. But suspected a bit by the smell of the paths.

She was distances away, near the edge of where the whisper key was and within the forest itself. As she smelled it's path, Vendrussel started to follow the trail of the boars and investigate what was happening within the fog.

Large dripping nostrils dilated at listening to the arrogant predator taunt him so. Brows furrowed over the swine god's small eyes seemingly turned red. Then his eyes tracked to a small pup somewhat adjacent form the tiger. Every bit of malice he had looking at the striped cat seemed to warp and twist.

"White pelt, sharp claw, foolish!" , he rumbled with a tone full of phlegm. "Will pound your flesh like others!"

He would show her the meaning of decoration, cruel eyes drifted to the pup who would serve as an horrifying example, then he would deal with the cat.

The cries of peaches where not lost on daddy's ears. With a completely different deep, soft voice he responded to the piglet. "Yes peachy weachie, daddy gonna get pumpkin good snack."

With that he turned back, then with a horrifyingly high pitch squeal, the great boar charged forward full of fury. Spear like tusks aimed at the small pup, he was intent to impale the child to his jaw. Then they would know the meaning of opposing the god of swine. He could picture it now.

^^

He came to her as he oft did. Something in him seemed to have a sense for her, coming to her whenever something might be amiss. Olympia was not a beast who knew what love was nor did she know if she had the capacity for it yet... like with @Vendrussel, the cub felt a sense of possession for the boy. He cherished her, adored her, lavished her with the importance she knew she deserved and perhaps it was his loyalty, so deep and raw that made her next moves happen.

Olympia did not recall moving. @Ghost was hers, her minion, her worshipper, hers hers hers--- and seeing the disgustingly ugly creature squeal and come barrelling towards him made Olympia move. She snarled as she moved, throwing her slender body into Ghost's as to force him out of the way of the pig yet in doing so she caused the next set of events as skin ripped against angry tusks, her ribs pooling almost instantly with crimson, harsh and sharp against her pale form as she cried out in pain and shock.

Olympia's vision swam as she tumbled over, her ribs pounding and something in her shifted and moaned, "you UGLY --" unable to finish her sentence as the pain of the wound encompassed her, the girl tried to keep herself standing as upright swimming gaze sought the body of Ghost. She wanted to ensure he had been shoved far enough by her that the ugly beasts attention could be on her as the girl sought to lift a shaking paw to swipe her claws blindly as to ward him off.

How dare he try and touch what was hers-- how dare he think he was worth her air --

Olympia hadn't known pain. Since waking in the waters as a little cub, Vendrussel had kept her safe despite Olympia's nature. She had never been left wanting or waiting, pain being forgotten with the memories of the first few months of life. Now, though, as she staggered, it was all she knew. ^^

Grimwald had strayed briefly from the pair, discovering a fascinating little alcove with delicious-smelling somethings growing inside of it. It was quiet, here, and whatever scent of wolf lingered here was easily overpowered by the smell of brine. It was silent - it was safe. An errant snack would not go amiss in order to keep up his strength.

Until the shrill cry of a she-cat and the thunder of Gro'Mash's laughter carried along the wind, and he stood at full attention, ears swiveling as he tried to pinpoint their location.

With a terrifying certainty in his stride, the boar made swift work of locating his King through the fog, footsteps thudding softly as his great weight sunk into the sandy beach. He could see Gro'Mash sending a striped feline on the ride of her life, her furry body hitting the ground with a whumpf. He sighed, shaking his head - the King had been restless of late, and his temper often got away with him at any small inconvenience, which in this instance could be seen in Exhibit A: the cat.

She made a whining, groaning noise, blood falling from her side. She looked almost surprised.

Pitiful.

His nostrils flared - there was something else -

It was easy to miss. A wolf stood, staring inert toward the group, shrouded by mist.

Grimwald felt a filthy, ugly smile curve up his lips.

He approached Ghost directly from behind, his immense figure looming overhead like the portent of death itself through the fog.

“Petty dog. Thou art small, but thou shalt have to suffice.”

Grimwald reared back on his great, powerful legs, and moved to gore him.

They stared down the beasts together, both showing no fear. The strange child still showed none as the boar charged towards him. All he did was tense, ready to push Olympia out of the way if it looked like the trajectory would be changed... if not, he would leap aside, or he figured he would leap aside. He was fast, right? It had never truly been put to the test but he would do his best.

 Except, that wasn't what happened.

As the beast plowed nearer, was nearly upon them, he felt a push. His eyes widened further as he was shoved away. Surprise overtook him as he moved by Olympia's volition. Things seemed to happen in slow motion when he turned his head back towards her while his body tumbled to the ground, safely out of the way.

He saw those horns, horns that were meant for him. They sliced into her.

 His light! No. No!

The white blossomed with red and felt like a dagger was sliced through his own chest.

 He had failed. Failed her

Would she die? No. No not a second time. Not his light

A horrid sound erupted from the youngster, one he hadn't even meant to make. It was a scream, or perhaps a howl, or a yell. Whatever it was, it was a sound of pure anguish. Wordless and raw.

No. The beast was over her and there was another beast over him. He ignored it, leaping away as its hooves were brought down in the spot he previously had been in. He dodged but it wasn't for his own safety. It was for her. He had to stay alive for her.

To salvage the situation he had ruined. She shouldn't have saved him. He was expendable. She was not.

He rushed to her and would try to place himself in between the goring beast and his light. An attempt to shield her, even if it meant his own demise.

Gro'Mash was barely smart enough to see that these two cared for each other in some sort of way, he couldn't really understand why though one was wolf, other was cat.  Only observing with small beady eyes as Grimwald attempted to turn the wolflet into a bloody stain. Gears began to work very slowly behind those eyes.  Very slowly.

Gro'Mash has idea:   "Bigword-Sharptusk, Stop -  No stomp!  Me have idea."

One could practically feel the ground shake as the massive swine lumbered his way over to the unfortunate pair.  Standing over them in victory, they could do nothing and he felt powerful.  Grimwald was so quick to stomp on sharpfang but, Gro'Mash always has better idea for more food.

Looking down over the pair, "Gro'Mash hungry! Gro'Mash Tribe HUNGRY!", he demanded, stomping a massive hoof close to the cat's head, once again shaking the ground.  "Bring Gro'Mash good food!  StripePelt-SharpPaw go!  Me keep BlackPelt-SmallFang!  If me get hungry me eat BlackPelt-SmallFang, eat more wolf tomorrow! Eat you tomorrow!"

"Go NOW!"
, he yelled.  Gro'Mash knew SharpPaws where good hunters, he didn't even stop to think that she was critically injured, but expected a sizable meal by tomorrow regardless.  he didn't care if she had to get help, he wanted his tribe fed, that was all.   Looking triumphantly over at Grimwald, he was proud of himself for being such a brilliant ruler.

Vendrussel could hear the clashing, she could hear the roaring and snorting between pigs and although could not make out the words within the beginning that was spoken ; but it mattered not. Through the fog did the dragoness raise her head, growling and snapping as she saw not only Olympia within an injury, mostly shocked of what was occurring, but Ghost as well, the mere' child who stood in front of the tigress like a knight in shining armor.

And she swarmed, blocking the two and facing in front of all the boars — large ones, serveral before her majority nasty to simply look at. Her own hackles were raised as her lip was curled back, but she said nothing. Only snapped within a warning, for they were children — but she was their Alpha.

The mist cloaked trouble, swirling and insidious and richly thick.

Dreadnought saw nothing, but she smelled blood. The storm dragon loped along the sand and as she approached curiosity hardened to concern, galvanizing to a bright and glorious fury when she spotted the swine.

Using the mist and her queen's distraction to her advantage, she skirted the scene wide, coming up to rush their left flank.

She did not pause. She did not hesitate. Liquid quick, she shot herself at the closest boar, the smallest one.

"Grahh! No touch peachie!  I squish you! " , he yelled with a voice that rang somewhere between a roar and a squeal.  When these other wolves entered the scene, the king's priorities had shifted.  "Gro'Mash protect piglet! Squish furskin sharptooth!" , he yelled as he charged.  The lesser swine could take the boy hostage, while he made and example of this stupid furskin.

With his spear like tusks aimed at @Dreadnought,  he barreled forward at a terrifying speed for a creature of his size.  "BIG TUSK RUSH!!", he announced in the midst of his charge, quite proud of his extremely simple minded move.

As the boar charged at the storm dragon, Vendrussel went forward and barelled toward it's side. She snarled, her lips raising in an attempt to catch hold of any meat that she could. Her blue gaze wandered to @Ghost and @Olympia-Elune, a silent urging of them to depart from this beach and head to the isle. At the point the two knew of the hidden road that led to the land without swimming.. Although within their situation, she wasn't sure if their shock would subside.

And so lowered, knowing well that going above would enact the boar tusks to injury her undersides. Vendrussel, although was still relatively young ; her experience was not to be thrown about.

^^

The pain was blazing and hot as it seared against her side, her vision swimming as her ears pounded with the sound of her own heart beat. Olympia was sure the ugly cretin was talking, demanding, saying something -- but she couldn't make it out as she tried to keep herself standing. It's tusk had broken the skin and dug in, ripping into her flesh in a way she hadn't ever experienced and now... she blinked rapidly, Ghost?

He was there?

He was alive.

She supposed that had been her goal. Why, she still didn't know -- but he was alive and that's what she had meant for. Olympia whined lowly in the back of throat as she staggered. Her vision began to white at the edges as she went into something, something dark, warm and inherently canine -- Ghost, she assumed. Though vaguely she thought she caught the scent of @Vendrussel and @Dreadnought but there was little she could do as she sought out @Ghost whilst she had any chance at keeping herself awake.
