The matriarch wove through the wooded foothills of Empyrean, nose working as she sussed out some odd thing that in spirit must be related to the honey badger. It was a tenacious thing, and Hydra jogged after it with a smarting muzzle. It had gotten a good scratch in, but nothing that would scar. Still, she bled from the lesser thing, and though Hydra knew she could not go through all battles in life unscathed, that this rodent had caught her unawares more so hurt her pride. That it had gone through the nearest creek was to its benefit.
It would pay with its life, she had determined. But it was a slippery bastard, that much she would give him. And for all her time here, she did not know it so well as she knew Moonspear. By the time she was grey and old she would, and she felt a pang of envy for her children that would not know that place… but at least they would know this one.
Hydra honed in on the critter, now pushing her pace that they had broken into a clearing. Not even the rain in her eyes deterred her. Soon it was in her grasp, and she shook it until it was limp. It would rob their caches no more, and with a waving tail she determined she would bring this prize to @Scorpius… that was, if he could win it from her.
