Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write, though the game also rewards high activity
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • Writing is collaborative, and so is our supportive community
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

He had been securing the borders with risen legs and rubbing his darkened body along the side of the trees that hid the entrance to the Vale when he heard the sounds of birds. Caws, continuous and telling. The titan would draw himself further from the Vale in the direction of the birds and where their loud squawks came from.

Not too far ahead was a carcass, an arctic fox who's white fur was not too white now as the birds picked away at it's remains. The titan hadn't noted any loners wandering near by, not recently but he supposed he couldn't be everywhere at once so perhaps a lone wolf had decided to have a snack -- it mattered only that no trouble had come calling for Duskguard. He wasn't entirely pleased at the loudness of the birds, they might draw attention of those he did not want close to come knocking.

Other predators that held undesirable desires had no business being anywhere near his people. The titan would draw himself towards the feasting birds and with each step he took, they took notice of him and angrily squawked at his intrusion. "Fuck off," he rumbled, not caring if they would try and peck at him with their annoyance but most flew away, unwilling to get into it. The titan would feel the pecks against his rump as he leaned down to scoop up the carcass within his jaws and he would trail away from where he had found it. If the birds wanted to follow him to continue on with their snack, then they could -- their dinner table just wasn't going to be at his doorstep.
