Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

There was a certain sense of caution with his entry into the forest. As if he expected Nosey to just pop his ugly mutant mug up behind the next tree. Thank goodness that seemed about as likely to happen as Mal having good luck. The pack's scent was gone, in Mal's eyes there was danger of Nosey reappearing unless Mal himself tripped over a corpse, he at least felt maaayyybe that chance was  probably low. Hopefully he could smell that nasty as hell guy coming (or at least Mal disliked him enough that he found the man's scent foul enough to recognize).

Some part of him hoped that his sister had returned here -- that after whatever suffering he'd dealt with both recently experienced and those forgotten, Mal deserved a win. Life wasn't going to give him a win, but he still deserved one. He'd open his heart to all who'd wanted to hide under his wings, and it seemed like more often than not he'd ended up hurt from it. And yet, here he was not stopping. Why couldn't he just find his sister? Someone else important to his past? He was alert for anything, though, every step taken methodically, ears swiveling at any sound.

You know what? He had no idea why anyone would even want to live in this weirdo place.

Event Horizon was no longer. She had an feeling when she passed by or was near, and no soul was around much less of a scent. Vendrussel never met it's leader — just knew that her companion of the past was with them for some time. As she traced it's border, any scent was long gone.. Any trails that she thought were around was the only remained of loners in the midst. She could enter freely, without anyone being within much less of a claim — the dragoness couldn't help but wonder on how long has it been?

As she tried to tace for any evidence of their existence, everything was.. Completely empty. She had thought to catch a trial, the scent of rot within the distance that she would follow and find a cache. But it was something akin to someone elses, a loners, for a rotten prey laid within a pile of bones from many, many moons ago. She stalked through the forest — anything that was, was gone and wondered whether Kei knew of so. She didn't seem close to those of the Horizon, but.. Knowing that a past pack simply vanished, Vendrussel would be a bit worried.

Her nose caught the trail, recent, someone still around she was pretty sure. Thus, she stated to prowl through to find them.

Yeah, the more he wandered, the more he wondered why anyone would want to live here? The trees were far too odd. He was starting to feel uneasy not from thought of someone appearing near him from that old and vanished pack but rather because he felt like he'd stepped into land that was just unhooked from reality. Why was it red? Freaking unnerving. His muzzle twitched, and he made up his mind that he'd only waste another hour or two here before he headed back to his own territory. He couldn't spend too much time away. He had like.. what..? Five people that he was responsible for? That sounded about right. He should count (and so should the player). He just wished his sister would become one of them.

He paused, ears forward -- he thought he heard something move a moment before, and in reply uttered a quick bark, it was calling for Brillo, specifically, but as soon as it left his mouth, his ears slowly slid sideways to a more relaxed position. She wasn't there. It was a brief bit of hope, but he was already starting to turn away and continue on his exploration, assuming he heard a ghost. In reality it was probably the other woman, whose trail he hadn't yet to traipse across directly.

There was many old trails that caught her nose as she went through the forest to find the fresher one. Although none of these scents were attempts at a claim, or even vaguely seemed similar to what she knew before by Kei's previous scent of Even Horizon. A mystery of their disappearance, but not one she would truthfully try to find out ; only mindlessly curious on who was within this forest as well, during this time. As she crossed through the trees, and the closer she came..

Ah.

A man stood, coloring of gentle grays but spotted unusually, "You don't seem like someone from these parts."
