Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

@Rio

The coast of the temperate was unusual — instead of white sands she was so familiar with, they were black. She had never seen such coloring within the ground, almost obsidian like as it seemingly sparkled at time when the sun hit just right. It brought an unusual gloom every other time, Miriam had to admit. A darkness settling in that cave sometimes an unsettling feeling, but she tried to continue roaming through, giving the benefit of the doubt. Even Raven's Rock was relatively innocent, just covered with the squawking ravens.

A lushed forest stood still at the very edge, where the sand trickled off on occasion. She peered down, where the waters fell and dripped, the sounds capturing to her ear as she bent lightly to it's large sounds. She could feel the winds coming from below, her face being tickled by the droplets, and thus she stepped back.

How unusual!

He'd been in the world for barely half a day, already trying to learn the ropes with bitter discontent. The wilds were not so bad as a predator but there was always someone else out there that was bigger and far braver. Without a gun at his hip, Rio would use a knife. In regards to now all, he could do was learn how to use tooth and claw but he didn't... vibe with it at all. A look of squeamish disgust pressed paused on his face and the man put his haunches to the floor with a savage thud.

Oh how hard life was!!

Woe is me and all that bs.

It was only then that blue eyes decided to appreciate his surroundings. Black sand sullied his ashen toes and the ocean spray scented the air with salt. For the first time in the last few hours, he took a breath and expanded his deep chest. Eyes closed contently and for a moment, he just breathed. Meditation he supposed. Not a sound of sirens, no shouting in the background let along the creaking of bed springs and the moans of his house mother in the opposing room.

This was... nice?

She backed up but couldn't help lean her head forward in a curiosity. She backed up a bit too much however, and could no longer see the edge ; just the dripping of a waterfalls from around going under, and the sand of black tumbling down. Her ears flickered, ravens and gulls mixing between them all and assumed some were from the Raven's Rock only distances away. Miriam was fascinated, even though the edge slightly scared her ; it was a wonder if anyone had fallen off, and she could pray to the Horned God that all who ventured too close, were safe. Dear, she shouldn't even of had that thought!

Her nose twitched, the smell of another nearby and she looked around. It wasn't hard to see the other though ; they were red. Red as the setting sun and scars that shown their life of protection and brawls. An impressive wolf, she thought at first glance, "Hello there, quite a sight, isn't it?" Miriam said with a smile, glazing to him, and back at the edge.
