Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Panic's wake up

She grew tired of the loneliness in her brith pack, after her mother left and his brother wouldnt mind her anymore, she decided to finally leave, she needed no one, she would do well alone. She was a Klein, a family of conquerors, of might and greatness. Something like this shouldnt bring her down right? On her childish mind it wouldnt. But in a more frank idea it could be bad, as even though she knew how to hunt, she wouldnt be able to obtain a lot of food alone. Fighting was okay but not to the point of actually defeating somone, but more to protect herself or aboid death. But all of this represented obstacles but she preffered that than being in a place where she wouldnt reach the greatness she saw she deserved. And like that she left.

For some time she walked aimlessly, just wanting to go away, and without knowing she ran until her legs wouldnt hold it anymore. With a grunt she lied down, falling asleep.

-time skip-

After an eternity her blue eyes opened, bringing blurry images at first but as they cleared she would be met with confusion. She fell asleep in a wasteland, and now she rested within a bed of wild flowers. Was she dead? Her head rose, still half asleep but aware. "What the fuck?..."  It was still night, but raining a little. This certainly blew up her mind.

She thought she saw a herd, leading away from the Everfrost. Rin could never hunt them alone, especially not when they often were within a herd ; but she noted them, watched their grazing grounds and noted what tended to be safer, to travel to. Perhaps they noticed her a few times, often moving away when she wasn't particularly hiding herself ; just observing, gazing and wondering who else in the midst of this tundra, would attempt to hunt a caribou.

She was curious when she saw a few split off and decided to follow them. The gray wolf didn't have much to do ; she didn't have friends to call forth for a hunt, nor' had a pack to guard and patrol for, her time was relatively free. She gained info, she gave info — and now, was adjusting. A better attitude, and a fixing of her own.. As her smile seemed lackluster to many, and wondered if she appeared too chilly.

So she followed the herd that lead back to the Alpine Moor. Brown against the flocking of purples that laid within the hills, smelling particularly of the pack wolves and a lingering smell of Kuhn. She wasn't sure how to face him, but at the very least felt calming that he wouldn't come after her like a true beast, as long as she didn't do anything, Rin assumed.

But in the midst of the rolling hills and alpine flowers, was not the figure she was expecting to see. Her gaze fell upon the other, before resting at the stray caribou — who already, vanished by the time they saw herself and another. She only sighed, and re-focused a gray eye upon the other who seemed lost, and confused. Rin called out from a distance, "Hey."

Her eyes finally adjusted enough to be able to stand up easier. Her legs shiveried a bit and she almost fell back but she wasn't going to let that stop her. Finally she made it safely to stand on all four. Shaking her fur clean, her pale blue eyes scanned the place which even though seemed beautiful this wasn't the place she fell asleep into. She turned her head, and that confirmed she wants in familiar lands anymore.

When she turned her face back where it was, an stranger aprppached her. An older female. Hi? Do you know where this is? She said almost in a demanding way. @Rin

Rin didn't come closer, the others tone indicated that they were someone that could be trouble. A stranger within a demand, and though she could empathize as it seemed she was lost.. The wolf was cautious, she knew not when to enter lines that would bring danger to themselves. Nothing immedietly yet stood out though, so she felt relatively alright continuing on a conversation, "This is the Alpine Moors," the gray woman said.

"You are near Northfall." Rin indicated by lift her snout and pointing toward the mountains that held west ; near the edge their claim most likely would be heavily smelled and even within the area they were slightly tinged. Though the aroma of the alpine flowers were strong enough that most, if not all would not be able to detect their presence. It wasn't her first time here, and found it easier.

The other was a tall, gray woman. Her face looked like a splattering of paint, but was a lighter shade of gray that also was around her legs. The only color that seem to stand out was blue eyes, and a light nose.
