Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Rin hadn't made a home for herself, or even a temporary claim. She tended to travel and find rest in random places that deemed fit ; such as abandoned dens, caves and even holes within trees itself. More often or not would simply find cover within a bush or take a daze underneath a tree itself. She didn't see the need to take a claim or put down roots somewhere, when she didn't know when it would be claimed. Though as empty as it was from packs, there was still a large variety of life that she continually met.

And wolves were greedy — someone would make a pack somewhere, eventually. If they did, she had yet to meet them.

Rin found a small cave upon a mound ; it was spacious enough inside but the stone was cold to the touch. Even her paws would shiver lightly when entering in — but that was all that there was. It didn't hold caverns or even go deeper, but a surface touch from long ago. It brought a good shield though for any bad weather, the wolf so noted. She could make it a temporary den.. So she thought, as she stood in front of it.

† The weather wasn't favorable, as the snow disappeared into his pelt blending him into the surroundings. The brisk air filled his lungs and left a sharp touch, causing him to exhaled deeply to bring warmth into his chest. What is it that left him longing for conversation - interaction, which ever kept him from pondering deeply into his mind. The snow wasn't even a couple inches tall, but his paws scraped against the build up. The mountains were always a wonderful sight in his eyes, but he wasn't sure where he was. Seville was unsure of the land he was wandering amongst, was there life here? Or was it vast like his memory of how he ended up here to begin with. But no fear struck him, he walked and walked until he no longer felt the need to continue on an endless journey.

When was it going to end? The continuous questions.

Instead of going in route, he broke off into the mounds, hoping to find shelter was the snow that seemed to pick up. Seville finally left his head and kept his eyes traveling on his surroundings and his nose picking up scents. Until one hit him, it was unfamiliar and surely recent. It was sweet and earthly, turning to travel toward it. It didn't last long of a travel once he saw someone standing in front of a cave, it was a small entrance so he was sure they were attempting to get away from the weather as he was. Seville wasn't harsh, he would give her the shelter before he ever gave himself one. He huffed slightly, raising his head and opening his mouth barely to speak. "Hello," He spoke softly, easing into an interaction he wasn't sure would go good or bad. You never know what others are like, he kept an open mind. Wanting to say more, he remained silent.

The sound of another and the smell coming forth caught her attention, and she turned around to see another wolf. He looked similar to her, lacking the array of colors of a more warmer region but wasn't exactly like a purebred arctic wolf, carrying large whites. Both gray, gray in appearance, gray within eyes ; a quiet, atmosphere he held as he called out and simply motioned with a 'hello.'

It amused her slightly, even if it didn't show on her face. She felt like she was looking into a mirror of the opposite gender, even if he lacked the more whites she held. Was that how she appeared to others, Rin wondered as she softly replied, "Hello, do you need something?"
