Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

She found an oddity within the tundra. It reminded of the Alpines that were near to the warm climate, and yet this area was even further up the north. Trying to navigate below was snow and forests — so when Rin crossed the glaciers and finally came to the other side.. She was greeted by the freshness of a warm eye that felt uncomfortable. She wasn't used to such a rush that her paws felt sweaty and a lukewarmness rushing over that wanted to have her turn around..

But eyes couldn't help but drift to the flora that stood tall — herbs, that even with her own knowledge, was planted plenty around the lands. How mysterious, Rin thought, and instead of turning back she dwelved deeper inside despite how uncomfortable it was. It wasn't that warm, but not something she was used to.

i could not resist

Quiet glades of the tundra calmed Eirene more than anything. It was vested in her spirit that destined her to find such peace on the hilltop of frozen waters. She liked the atmosphere and appreciated the cold. Her coat was thick and dark, not respecting the hotter weather. The tundra had been her home for quite some time now, offering her salvation alike no other.

Her days would consist mostly of navigating the glacier itself. She liked to peek in and out of the crevices of ice, occasionally slipping, yet worth it to find patches of flowers hidden beneath caves of ice. Eirene liked flowers and flora all alike, finding the beauty in anything that maintained life. So busy with her head in the flowers, she wouldn't question the shift in the wind; once chilled with depravity, now warm with company.

Rin wasn't sure who arrived first as they both seemed new to so. She lifted her nose and smelled someone's presence, not something that was there long before but almost like herself, just arrived. A curious gaze along the distances, where it wasn't too hard to find who it was on the breeze ; for they were dark in nature, sticking out like a thumb against the more icy backdrop.

She chuffed lightly at the other, not in a presence to introduce of converse, but in the sense to alert the other of her presence. She was not here to attack or claim, to fight whoever it was ; as wolves, were always known for their territorial issues. Perhaps she was judging a bit too harshly, and yet hearing about the unkind pack that was nearby — now vacant — one could never be too cautious.

The air had shifted with the scent of chilling evergreens; the nautilus of the texture sent chills down her spine, glittering textile pine needles prickling against her skin. Eirene turned, noticing the grey-shaded woman, aghast.

Eirene would be enthralled by the shade of her eye color, for there was no color at all. How interesting...More so, was that she appeared to be alone. Alone, up here? Surely Eirene had her reasons of exploration; trailing along the withered pines and floors of ice to find solace with the Gods.

The woman raised her head, cocked to the side, a bark of her own leaving her jaws; "Hello," a soft tune to her voice, relaxed and solemn. "You're not...a blood-thundering pack member of some kind, are you?"

Rin sniffed her pelt lightly ; wondering if she had picked up the smell of others from recent interactions, "No, I am a loner." She said, assuring the other. They didn't look like someone that was normally within the tundra ; for they held very dark colors. Tinged with brown and occasional grays, though darker then most warmth like an autumn tree. A blazing golden view stood out. They seemed like polar opposites, for Rin was without color, and the only was with color.

"Are you?" She didn't currently smell anyone upon her pelt.
