Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Rin was getting her bearings better. It had been a week or two since she arrived, but gained a lot of knowledge of the land and who inhabitants it, as well as how her situation didn't seem completely out of the place here. That part was relieving and also scary — for in that case, who or why was it happening? At the very least she would want to know what was the point of taking her own memories away, but.. She didn't think too deeply about it anymore, for they were rather useless thoughts that would never get an answer to. She didn't want to constantly worry over something that would've be solved, and firmly, placed those questions to the back of her head.

She started feeling more comfortable living in the tundra either, and didn't particular have a place to call a den just yet. Information was power and that was what she was getting — but like anyone, a wolf needed a rest. She could see some scattering trees within the distance on this booming, sunny day. There was no clouds for a shade as it felt relatively hot, strangely enough. She sought for a tree within yards away, and slunk to it's trunk underneath it's canopy.

Sliding against the floor, her head upon her paw.. Resting, quietly.

Behind a tree or two away, Nakida stood still. Curiously watching the sound mourning dove in earl grey with round, curious evergreen eyes -- a devious smile soon curving her lips as the seconds passed. Whatever had possessed the patchwork lass to approach the girl was not with innocent intent, and with nothing much else to pass the time in this snowy wasteland, she wouldn't miss the opportunity to have some fun.
So like a cat stalking it's prey, she prowled behind the slumbering woman's bodyin a slow, steady manner -- making sure every step through the snow was only the faintest of touches.
and just as she reached her side, her pale muzzle moved slowly toward them. Hovering just above their crown.
to let out the deepest, guttural snarl she could manage from her chest in her ear.

Rin did not take chances. She was smart, at the very least — when she knew something was wrong she was a quick responder. Yet it all depended upon the situation at hand. As someone who was laying under a tree within but a quiet tranquility, she immediately rose to her paws to the sound of someone growling behind her. Wolf-like though, perhaps a quiet relief it was not a rogue tiger in the making ; but a thread, nonetheless.

The first sound she heard, the coming of pawprints, is when the gray wolf rose and took immediate action to run. A fools game to turn around and face a foe she knew not. It was a much safer bet, at least Rin thought so, to run for the meanwhile.
