Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Gonna try an' keep the Vengeance stuff vague! Will edit if/as necessary! @Satchel

It was maybe a few hours after meeting the rot-smelling asshole. Eldra continued to prowl through the Temperate, keeping up on her ongoing search for signs, tools....things for her practice, things to occupy her mind.
Eldra didn't like to fight...all the time, anyway. But she had a penchant for using her teeth in situations that might've otherwise parried combat away if she wasn't a bitch.

Still, the purple-hued titaness carried on. She'd find herbs in time, now that she needed to rebuild a stash of them, as well as rebuild her toolset for her Craft.
All things come in due time.
Eldra kept her ears attentive, minding her surroundings half-heartedly in case some other douchebag decided they needed to try and run her off for attempting to find a purpose, or a direction to go....not that she had really said as such with the equally massive dark brute she saw earlier. Who knows if he was still around...

Don’t disturb him, he was sleeping. Or well, he WAS sleeping, until a falling leaf fell on his muzzle and awoke him. Gone was his slumber, it seemed. ‘’Hmpf.’’ came the annoyed sound of a huff leaving his nose, pushing the leaf away to be taken by the wind again. Stark opened his blue eyes and sniffed, lifting his head off the ground and let out a loud yawn, eyes shut tight and jaws wide open as if he was going to chomp on something.

But no, not right now. Maybe later. Looking around him and lying there lazily, he took in the sights of the forest. Deep and luscious, surrounded by many trees. The forest looked big, the trees tall. The trunks were mossy for dome, especially near the bottom. It reminded him of home- wait.

This wasn’t home.

Stark lifted himself a little dazed, still half slumped. He was now up on his front legs, but his hind legs were slacking, dragging behind for a bit. He looked around, frantic, panicking. This wasn’t home. This wasn’t the Glen, this wasn’t the territory he’d grown up in. Behind him was an open field, in front of him loomed the dark forest. It felt like home and yet it wasn’t.

He finally pushed himself up on all fours and staggered for a bit, taken aback by the changed situation. A suddenly flash came to him. Water, the scent of salt water. His chest felt tight, all of a sudden. It was almost as if he could feel the wet sand under his paws that lay on the ocean floor. Yet when he moved his toes… there was grass.

Looking down, looking behind him looking in front of him, looking sideways.

A flash of white a midst the trees in the distance, moving towards the grass fields and away from him. For a moment- Stark thought he saw someone familiar. For a moment, he thought he WAS home.

‘’Oi! Wait!’’ he called out, finally finding his energy to run. A sudden bolt of speed. He could not let them go, wherever they were. Eyja? Finni? Nanna? No- it wasn’t them. That wolf wasn’t them.

But who- then who-? Where-?

There were strangers among his midst.

He had noticed her first, a pale splash upon the endless canvas of green. A kindred feeling for a moment, he knew how it felt to be  so  exposed. Trailing slowly after her, carefully  watching to see what she might become. If she remained here then eventually they would have to meet. He doubted Vengeance would have the audacity to introduce his guest. So the rest was up to him.

He had to admit he was startled then by the sudden intrusion of another.

Halting stiffly, he frowned slightly at the interruption. However he softened slightly at the realization that this man was lost. Not that he normally cared,  but he knew his devil of a friend might make easy prey of such a target. So with a slight sense of responsibility,  he decided to just go all in. Well, wasn't this getting interesting.

He emerged swiftly from the shadows, a snort offered up as he put himself upon full display.  "I didn't know the party had already started." he left just enough space between all three to leave some breathing room. Confidence pulsing through out, he cast a glance upon each with eyes as radiant as the sun.

The massive woman had been carrying along,  like ya do. Y'know, when yer told to Get Fucked & Get Out.

Hearing a voice, she turned her head with a soft hm?
Oh.
Two males.
One with greys, the other almost if not exactly as white as she herself was.

"I'm just on my way out. It's difficult to find a way out of a place you're not familiar with, though..." Eldra responded, a wariness in her purple hues. Were these guys wolves of the forest? Were they with....what was his name? Vengeance? Yeah, that guy.

Anyway, she held firm for the time being, listening to the two brutes and their words, should more come.

How her heart burned as she saw in the distance all of them gathering, firstly there was one, then two, then three; and the one that never left. The borders of the forest, but still within her rightful claim, and a vengeance had yearned so. Though with numbers far more then her own, even moreso Célnes was not a fighter. She had a crown due to her plots and devious deeds, her lust for the power she cannot gain herself. She used what was best, her thoughts.

Into the shadows did the deorwine disappear into, and slinking away from the group. Quite far from them regardless, Célnes crept to the where the Herd had stood. The bulls that lingered around, and the doe's that huddled in-between with their young, "Long live the Queen," she so said.

A quick fleet of nipping of the heels, she caused no harm but only a chaotic stance of scaring many. The bulls angrily stomped as she bit at their heals, and the doe's were quick to flee the scene. Though whenever they went to a direction, she was quick to whip around to lead them right to where the three were. A guide, a shepherd of sorts, Célnes plotted to lead a stampede right to them. Upon the doe running to the right direction, and the bulls following after her, she started to play a dangerous came.

Between the stampede the Queen placed herself to, running to the group with a herd of many. Once she was close enough, only then would she separate into a safer space.

She wasn’t anyone he knew, and she said she was on her way out. Had something happened? Was he not supposed to be here, either? Where even was here? She didn’t seem to know where she was, either. Another wolf in an unfamiliar place.

And, there was more; another wolf. A male, coming over to them. His comment just made Stark frown all the more. Okay, get it together, Stark!

‘’Look, I have no fucking clue what’s going on or where I am. I remember being home, and now I’m here. I remember-’’ Ocean water, darkness, the feeling of a tight chest and lack of air. Stark fell quiet for a moment. He shook his head again. ‘’I guess it doesn’t matter.’’ he huffed, almost sneered the words. He wasn’t angry at these wolves, not at all. He was just… lost and confused right now. Any sense of emotion was displayed with anger, no matter how he felt. How the fuck could he have gotten so lost?

He didn’t know what else to say, he didn’t know where to start or where to continue, or where to end. All he knew was that suddenly, the ground seemed to be trembling lightly. Frowning, he looked up, uttering a soft ‘’The fuck?’’ out into the open, when he saw a flash of brown on their way towards them. Were those… elk? Deer? What the-

‘’UHHHH-’’ was Stark’s immediately response. He didn’t know these wolves, so he didn’t think of staying around and helping them. Stark just… turned and bolted. ‘’NONONONONONO!’’
He was a coward, after all.

Gonna wrap this one up!

Eldra stared with soul-piercing hues at the men.
She was about to say something again, when a herd of deer stampeded right towards them

Assuming the two men fled, Eldra simply moved just enough out of dodge to be a giant Fuck You to whomever was orchestrating the stampede.

As this is BEFORE Eldra gets her shit kicked, she watched the deer flee past with a cocky smirk and proceeded to trot oh so happily closer to the trees, and take a massive dump.
An extra middle finger to the racists of the forest.

And thus the massive female continued to go on her "merry" way, away from the trees, away, away, away...

She only ran beside them for so long, leading them straight to the path the white-kin wolves. Only then when she knew the course was clear, Célnes drifted from the stampede, her figure disappearing into the shadow of one of the taller trees. Though while the elk, now dismayed and angered and travelling toward, the wolves were not injured in anyway, rather fled away from so.

As the deer were not one's who would chase, once they drifted in a direction, the stampede would not follow. She thought it was unfortunate, but nothing to be done about so. She could only hope the Vengeance would properly, show them out next time, maybe only a head would leave and the bodies taken to the earth itself.

She stayed a bit to linger, watching the deer regain themselves from a distance as the deorwine was no longer nipping at their ankles. When they calmed down, the herd retreated back to the inner sanctions of the forest, and she followed.
