Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

it was cold here. it sept into mira’s cold bones, her cold insides, cold already without a touch of ice. at places the sun crept down in patches of light, but the dark areas felt easier on her eyes. and even alone something about remaining in shadow always made the little patch of nothingness feel safer. the wind whispered across the surfaces of ice, at time making her think of the voices of some spirits, but then the illusion was broken and it was wind once more.

how long was it since she saw mother?

mira was not one to feel love or loss. maybe some small, unintelligent version of it. maybe wanting to be reunited with the bloodline. if only to return and dominate it. maybe missing the lessons of someone she truly recognized as the stronger and more powerful version of herself.

she had joined a clan briefly while she was gone, people with values like herself. she had thrived there, but just as bloodshed had tempted her, bloodties called her home again. in that time she had studied their spirits too. but she didn’t love those spirits in a real way. but she didn’t really know it was false when she played along; she didn’t understand religion, nor the depths to which those people believed their ideas. but those spirits had delighted in sacrifices and all sorts of things that made mira feel something like pure giddiness to watch unfold, an unreasonable excitement that was hard to identify. and it always seemed like a nice way to take care of criminals. brutal events were good reminders.

she thought it would be interesting to implement someday if she found her way home again.
