Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

@Ivar

She stomped about, in a haze of an overall scowl. It was only perhaps, a month ago she was forced out? It seemed rather hazy overall when it occurred, for her days were left in an anger. To the point she crawled to a mountain top and screamed to the Gods itself, cursing at them until her voice went out. Anyone would think at that point that perhaps they would strike her down with lightning, but it seemed within the new life, she would avoid so.

It seemed the world really wanted to show how tiny she was though. As her large paws continued onwards in an aimless direction, she encountered a forest with dazzling large trees. The scent of beaver hung so heavily around as well, that the mere' sighting of one wasn't surprising. She could hear the sounds of a waterfall within the distance, assuming that was the whole reason a dame may be in place.

Yet this forest was large too tall for herself.. But not tall enough she couldn't see the looming clouds within the distance, as she stood tall and stared to the sky.

Ivar hadn't yet decided where he wanted to go and holed himself away in the mountains, finding himself a sizeable den amongst the rocks and trees -- tree so big he swore that giants had been their creators -- and lined his den with his obsession. Bones. Leg bones, skulls, ribs, bones bones bones. No Rosencrantz here to crush them, he thought dryly. There was little in the way of others which he supposed was alright, that way he was for sure no one of his hunting party would be here to finish the job and add his own bones to his little pile.

The Viking drew himself from his den with his favourite bone clasped tightly between his teeth and through the trees he skulked. He had been uncaring of the looming storm, he hadn't done anything to offend the Gods so whoever the storm had brewed for, it certainly wasn't him. Something different was about today and by different, he meant there was life apart from him and insignificant prey. Wolf. She stood amongst the giant trees and looked to the sky, likely watching the looming storm.

If it were her it was here for, he could only hope she had prayed for mercy. Ivar remained in the shadows of the trees and watched, trying to determine her details to make sure it wasn't one of the ones seeking his life. None had been so colourful though, he thought. ^^

These trees were fucking annoying. Even though they weren't that tall, they were still daunting enough to cast a shadow, and hide multiple beings behind a tree. She could hear the scattering of beavers within the distance, their knawing as birds would scatter away and otherwise woodpeckers coming for the luxurious trees ; truly a battleground for any species who enjoyed wood.. She was not one of these, and was more getting irritated by the minute of these god-forsaken tree that made her start to feel paranoid, and even surrounded.

Though she was getting more pissed because there was scent within the air. It was starting to come closer and closer ; she was up with a ruffling of fur for when someone doesn't introduce themselves, that usually meant trouble. From experience Orlaith thought of it was an ambush, but the enemies she knew were no longer but enemies of a pack.. Would they still be mad at her? Most likely as she did harm others, but couldn't imagine they went all this way to attack her.

It was giving her an edge, thinking they were hiding within these large trees, "Show yourself!" she snarled.

Her involvement or lack of became proven when he heard her voice. No hint of his home on her tongue and Ivar's ears perked, feeling less tense now that something obvious had excused her. She was an angry thing, though. Ivar's tongue lapped against the bone that he held within his jaws as he stepped from the shadows only enough to show his head and shoulders in the light.

Ivar stared at her, multicoloured eyes bright as he watched the girl to see if she would continue to snarl and froth. ^^

"You gonna say something, motherfucker?" She didn't like the fact that this man hide into the shadows, watching from her behind it all. The trees were so large that really anyone could hide from it ; it was like they could pierce the heavens itself and she imagined on some days they drawn into the clouds. Though even if one could do so, it didn't make it right. She Orlaith especially didn't care if he was young, all that mattered was for some reason.. He was watching her.

She was full on aggression, a bark in demanding of answers to what he was doing. Though she may not be satisfied, either way.
