Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

"Edith? Edith!" A panic surged through the Queen, as all her young was within the night.. Except one. It reminded her of a time Maral had disappeared for hours during a storm ; but instead of the youngest, the oldest was now. She scorched through the forest, the woodlands itself, traces of her eldest daughter and yet..

Signs were lost.

She was more angry then anything. A daughter she thought to be trained to loyalty, disappeared like them. Like those who betrayed her more then once, a man of white, a woman of browns, a cousin and his lover — how many more who were close to the Queen would continue doing so? She'd think out of all, the very purpose of their birth — ! Her young would not.

Claws dug into the earth itself. She would have to send someone, someone to look for her daughter ; to many factors to leave the rest behind and yet losing one of the holiest.. "Edith!"

He had heard the calls long before he himself noticed or feared for his sister's safety. Knowing Edith she found some adventure without him and @Warwick. Payback for their own excursion he supposed, but he could only roll his eyes. At least when they left they had not been caught. Mother would take her head once she was found...if she was found. Raising his head from where he rested, Calhoun squinted into the night.

It wouldn't be the first time they had discussed leaving...but to think she had the gall to do so without telling her brothers was unacceptable. They were a team, weren't they? Scoffing he watched as their mother slipped away in search of the missing princess. After he was sure she truly left in search of his sister, he too would creep away to begin his own search. Fortunately... he had an idea of where to start.

^^As of late, Nikitas had been acting on his own accord of what one might consider to be a guardian or protector. In reality, it felt more like he was a scout than a guard as it was a very mundane routine. He patrolled the perimeter, mostly, and was in the middle of his lunch break when the sounds of his queen’s frantic calls of Edith - whom he would assume was someone of importance - caught his attention.

Ah, but he had not been called personally, right? And Nikitas did not want to intrude on whatever the hell it was that was going on, but.. better find her before she summoned the guards. The stone man finished the remains of his lunch and slowly headed into her direction. Approaching from behind, though it was doubtful that she would give notice; it was nightfall and she seemed to be searching for Edith - Nikitas would offer the smallest of woofs to grab her attention.

“What do you need of me?”

"Signs, any signs. Signs if she was kidnapped or left." Unaware two were straggling away during her craze to find the eldest daughter, she put all her focus into Edith. There was a relief that Nikitas came to desperate calling, an answering to her desires. She was pleased especially he was quick to take hold of the situation and ask what was need, and the Queen did not hesitate to immediately order as so.

"Anyone you come across, tell that a Princess is missing, to search the forests, and outside our territory." If they did not find by the night, that would mean the next morning was to widened the range. Yet she knew very well most were asleep..

Peace was disrupted during the night. He could hear the despairing echoes of a heartbroken mother, their desperation reverberating through the forest thicket. He watched as in turn a sibling or two responded to the calls. He watched Calhouns' reaction and he too bounced off of this, thinking the same. There was no need for panic, if they knew their sister well, she had perhaps a desire to seek something out whilst all were oblivious.

Warwick for now, opted to stay in the confines of the den, assuming Calhoun would return with gossip or some news of their sisters' whereabouts come morn.

Little did he know, it would be the last he saw of him and Aldritch for a while.

^^Ah, so that was the cause of alarm, then; one of the princesses, though not the one he knew, was missing. Why on earth did she not assign guards to actively watch her children was beyond him, but perhaps all of this could have been avoided..

“Very well.. ”

No matter now, Nikitas supposed; the princess was missing - turning the guard into a detective, as he left to search the territory for any scents that did not belong.

Exit Nikitas unless stopped.

Celnes sent him on his way and continued the search. She would call for anyone she would see and ask the same, as her young were disappearing. Yet, at the time as well, unknowingly so, there was two others who slipped away during the crisis (Calhoun & Aldritch). The signs were lost to what could have happened, but as far as any could tell, there was nothing like a struggle, or God Forbid, a kidnapping.

She could only hope the ventured out — and wished they said goodbye, at the very least. When the Queen would see none within the forest ; she would venture out.. Only to be met with a terror.
