Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

It happened again.

Like a dream within a dream. A wandering, slipping, thoughtless dream. She floated down into the depths of it all, drowning as her worlds twisted and changed again.

A pain ran through her, something that shot up her spine in agonizing and piercing knives. Like needles that threatened to change her very being again. Her bones would shatter and fuse again, each time healing in a new way and a new direction. Everything human about her to be snuffed out like a small campfire.

When her yellow eyes opened- this time she did not rise into a playful dance. This dream was becoming a nightmare- something endless and horrifying. Instead her eyes opened with a flash- her body rising in fear. She screeched into the air and found the moon once again staring back at her from atop the sky.
Her yellow lingered, terrified by the way the moon was beginning to look like a peering eyeball. A thankless and merciless god watching her suffer over and over again.

Liena cried, crumbling into the dirt and throwing her paws over her head. She was going insane.

She just stayed there, hoping that maybe if she closed her eyes hard enough that she was go back to sleep. That it would end. Or perhaps she could starve herself again- to try and make this beast die so that her human soul could be free of it's carnage. It hadn't worked before, though her desperation was making her critical thinking skills disappear.

The purple toned woman wouldn't move from her spot in the center of the glade. Surrounded by beautiful rolling hills and oaky trees. The terror in her heart was stronger than any beauty could overcome.
