Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

The plains were growing empty ; though she met many, they were as fleeting as the wind itself. She knew though there was packs and friends to the north but could not find her heart into those places, the cold embrace of there was not where Uriel belonged. She had settled to the glade ; but that too felt an escapeful moment where she wasn't alone.. Until she was, once more. There was a few who called the Glade home, and yet it continued to remain empty when there wasn't a purpose to reside there, and her feelings on keeping it were slowly fading, to but just another temporary housing, until winter was to pass.

Rannoch gone and the woman disappeared, there was only herself and a badger who took to it — but the other too, disgruntled by the openness without the snow. When she would travel downwards to amuse herself on roaming, a desire for exploration, it was the realization the plains weren't as empty as she would've thought. There was crevices and forests, castles and fields like no other.. You'd just have to find them.

But all her exploration, it felt empty. There was no love to this land, no desire or need to.. Find a purpose. She was without a love within her heart, a desire for something to come along and yet — that seemed absent from here. She was cursed with more fear and heartbreak, friends leaving and others tormenting her dreams from lowering herself to the south. She could see beyond the plains thoough, the deserts, the mountains, the forests.. It all seemed.. Overwhelmimg, for Uriel.

She had found herself within a forest. Tree's held high as the gentle drop of snow dropped from the branches. Light glistening between and shining brightly down onto herself, glossing eyes from the burning light of the morning snow. She squinted, a gloss to this forested area that seemed quite unlike the plains itself, but she knew beyond this forest, there was even more.

She could feel the bushes beneath her paws, what would be a flower field in the midst of this forest was now damaged by the snow itself. Covered, in a blanket, and hiding away from winter itself. But the sun kept trying to bring it forth, show Uriel that beauty that it held from the sky coming down and glazing the snow carpet.. Only resulting in a blindness, until her eyes adjusting.

She ventured through, hearing the birds tweet that mysterious remained in the forest rather then going north, and hearing the smaller critters scurry through the snow. The crunching, as her paws continued burrowing through a pathway, and upon so could see even smaller paths. She was alone, as a wolf, but not as a living being as her looked upon the familiar steps of a doe. Still fresh, they were near. Though not of her business.

She came across a pond, beauty in frozen as she gazed below but could not see any fish through the murkiness. Yet.. Some flowers froze within, giving a glimpse of what spring would bring. A beauty in blue and purple, a single flower frozen in time itself until it defrosted, and scrambled up in a frenzy by the resting fish.

It was a shame, though, she would not see that beauty. Feeling the vegetation beneath the snow and through her paws, she knew that it would be a glorious one. Covered within it's riches, a flower field into the woodlands, an emptiness and yet whole with the trees.. But it wasn't for her.

She continued down south ; until Uriel disappeared from the realm altogether, away from these lands.

Somewhere for another start.
