Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

The Rose was taking more and more liberty with stepping out of Windmere territory. Things were quiet within their Kingdom which wasn't a bad thing -- it spelled good weather for Windmere when peace was afoot. However... Genevieve could admit to being restless. She wished to meet more wolves, creatures and learn more of this world -- she wished for amusement and adventure, some fun sprinkled in within the responsibilities one had to their Pack. She gathered herbs and medicines alike, stored them away in her own cache and she hunted the little critters for big game certainly wasn't within the play for her as a lone hunter.

She did her duty to the Pack whilst wondering her fate as a wife to @Roderick and she could admit to not being too bothered at the lack of advance in her marriage -- she was still young, as was their marriage, she had plenty of time to fall into step. Though a part of her desired to be wooed even now, Genevieve was good at adapting and finding her own amusement.

Still, today she was once more restless and from Windmere's claim she descended, hoping for someone to tickle her fancy

gonna take an assumption it's the forests between empyrean and windmere!

Desdemona didn't roam often, she would keep close to the mountains and especially so now that their was children to the peaks. A guard to the shadows, keeping close and within a distance for the family privacy that the Alpha's wanted, but was always there, ready to be beckoned to. Doing errands was a simple task, especially as she would help bring up prey with others as the Alpha was nursing. Patrolling was more frequently, as she scurried through the borders and yet, no true smell came to be.. Just the regulars, and maybe a different canine on occasion. Nothing that stayed, nor' caused trouble.

The spider-guard was on the move, down the mountains as her nose pressed on — a hunt for a boar that she had caught scent. It led to the forests behind the mountains, perhaps at most a day away but if she was lucky, the woman would come back with a prize. On the horizon though, she could smell a wolf with the distinct smell of a pack upon her pelt. Desdemona raised her head, a cautious look around for she did not know any packs that were near this area..

It was not purely wolf on the air, the Rose had noted. Canine, certainly, and of a Pack if her nose was not to be a liar that day. Genevieve could not contain her curiosity as it was a Pack scent she had not learned and a new creature to meet -- for her social needs and for her own desire for knowledge -- so the Rose surged forward. Her lithe legs carried her forward in a graceful trot, her dandelion gaze roving across the terrain in search for the canine attached to the scent. Her movement got her the very thing she desired; she found the source. Leggy, earthen and not quite wolf. Genevieve slowed her approach but did not still entirely, instead she gave a clearing of her throat as to not simply approach with the desire to surprise.

Though looking at the way the sort-of-canine held herself, she wouldn't have been surprised at all. It was almost like she was waiting to be approached, with the raise of her head and the cautious expression settling upon her dark features. The Rose could not help but note how elegant she seemed, with her long legs, lean build. A dark beauty, she thought. "I think perhaps we have been looking for each other," if she had smelt her the way Gen had done, then this was a meeting that was bound to happen. She smiled, warm and refined, "Genevieve of Windmere. Might I ask your name? I think calling you dark-beauty in my head can only go on for so long."

It wasn't flirtation. She had a husband -- not one she knew well or saw often, mind you, -- and Windmere valued the bond between man and woman but she was not so close-minded as to not see beauty in her own gender! It would be a shame, she thought in amusement. Who said that she could not have a mind of her own, anyhow? Still, she could be playful, could she not? The stoic-woman would perhaps not return her sentiments but it mattered not, Genevieve could adapt.

The boar trail was onto a halt, as the wisping scent of another continued to draw closer. Upon the wind could she smell of one, heavily scented with pack that upon coming closer, Desdemona still could not say where they were from. An unknown area and yet seemed to possibly be by, for as strong as it was, it was not but a trip from a messenger, or a wanderer. Her lead lifted, a general sniffing to their direction of the north, somewhere surely to mark down for nearby scouts.

Though the other, as well had found herself. The spider guard did not make distinct traits to hide herself, though she did not consider such an ease of approach. A woman came through, drapped in finer colors like that of a spring rose, frosted over. Fragile she looked, yet an eye that held a charm of wit and vigor, something that seemed a bit off to Desdemona.. For someone to approach so easily, and yet without a terror within the region, it was perhaps more common, between wolves. Maybe it was she that was overally caution on the 'why.'

"I am Desdemona of Empyrean," she responded with a faint nod, though remained unphased by the.. Well she never has been complimented. Trying to name a time was difficult, as the woman doesn't ever recall anyone calling her a 'dark beauty,' but it was not something she expected either. Finding herself as an average if not a bit dull with her earthly colors. She felt it didn't match to the glossy black of most ostrega's, and tended to be an... Unsavory color.

Not something she was used to, it was generally ignored.
