Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

@Sindri

Ghidorah is ripe with new and old scars. The oldest he’d gotten in these new lands are from the large pale shewolf he’d fought some time ago. Only recently having a do over once more — and he came out on top again. His injuries from the beach with their unlikely neighbors are scabbing now. The worst of them are the rips and tears at his throat made by the latest opponent to that fight. He didn’t die though, but he swears he could’ve if infection had settled. Thankfully his wild mane of fur protects him enough to help. After all, if there’s so much fur, how’s one supposed to get a good grip on the skin?

Still, he wanders in and out of the territory often, searching for many new and old victims he can snatch up in searching teeth. His grisly behavior is surely not unnoticed by his pack mates and his behavior shows all they need to know. Considering the times he’s left and come back with new wounds and sharp, piercing eyes.

He is a malicious, blood thirsty man. Always bites first and asks questions later. His bark is definitely just as bad as his bite and he plans to keep it that way.

He wants to be feared once more.

Now, he is back in the territory he shares with the others who live here. Finally taking his rest period by laying on the edge of a horrendously steep cliff. The tundrians front paws hang from the cliff ledge leisurely as he supports his upper body with an elbow and splays his hind legs comfortably to the side. The wild fur of his mane puffing almost cutely around his face as his head is in a relaxed, almost tucked position. Eyelids half lidded, he gazes out into the endless seas as snow falls softly around him, collecting on his pelt.

Here he will get his much needed rest, only to start the cycle all over again.

All was quiet in Northfall again. She had not fought since the scuffle at the edges of their lands and had now left much since either. @Elentari was healing well, thanks to the shaman and healers of Banesteppe. @Aslaug had regained her complexion though wore Ynness' death heavily. @Asgeir? Completely gone after Ynness had been returned to them. Either by his own accoed or by the hands of the islanders all the same...

Sindri moved though the winter terrain with a quaint, delicate elegance though within she continued to smoke and smolder.

Each step is a light and quiet one. The little huntress moving along the cliffs like a young sheep. The winds are heavy, they howl through the rocks and bring the scent of their newest member to her. Their only recruit for that matter, savor Ragnar's raven friend.

He wasn't far and though she had no interest in getting to know him on any personal level, she wonders what be might have gotten himself into recently. Did he comes with more wounds to mend? Did he bite off more then he could chew this time?

The peachy woman draws nearer quietly, to see the large wolf rested upon the cliffside. He had made himself quite comfortable already in this world, it looked. She huffs, loud enough to draw his attention should he not be too deeply slumbered.

Though his eyes are heavy, sleep has not yet taken the fallen god. Heterochromatic orbs are hardly focused as he looks out into the sea before him. The waves crash onto the rocky beach and the sounds help lull him to sleep.

He quickly comes back to the land of the living when he hears snow crunching softly behind him. Whoever it is, they’re small, he can tell by the sound of the steps. He allows his ears to shift back and his chin to lift from his chest. The fallen god’s head moves slightly and his eyes shift to the side to see the female leader of these lands. The same woman he fought beside not too long ago.

“Sindri.” He hums lowly, slightly drawing her name out on his lips. “What brings you here pale one?” He questions lazily, not moving from his spot. “How are your wounds?”

He lifts his chin and offers a side glance, but the former God remains laid in his place situated at the cliff edge. One of sheer many of their home which overlooked the ocean and even the island and itself wolves below them. “A curiosity I suppose. There is not many yet in the fold to speak with.” She states as she takes a few steps nearer, rounding out to face his side.

“Less wound then scar now.” She answered as a brightly yellowed moved over his own large and tattered build. “I see your wounds are healing well and yet...” She lifts out a slender paw, to touch onto a fresher cut of his and press in slow, but not deeply. He kept gathering fresh wounds, wounds which would keep him from his best when she needed him to be.

A curiosity I suppose. She says and Ghidorah finds himself huffing out a breath of a laugh at that. His breath turns into a fog before his eyes as he continues watching her as she speaks, hers doing the same. She continues by saying that there isn’t many options for conversation in their fold yet. Reasonable.

“Oh, so I remain as your last option for conversation. I see, pale one. So rude.” He jests in that rasping tone of his, a smirk making its way to his scarred visage.

Only then she continues looking down at him. She speaks of her wounds and he has to agree that they do look better than when they first fought the dragons. Turning the conversation on his own old and new wounds.

I see your wounds are healing well and yet...

She surprises him by pressing a small paw to a wound and pressing. Pain blooms in the spot and his smirk grows as he hisses out a laugh.

“I fight any and all, woman. No matter the time of day or condition.” He easily offers her then.

She laughs at his words, enjoying the laughs of his own dark vocals. He might have been a God but he didn't lack having some sort of sense of humor. “No, the raven would be my last option.” Another chuckle. Of course she revered the ravens for their connection to her gods. They were chosen as much as the wolf to be at Odin's side. Still, @Krakarak was a bit of a mouthful.

After a hiss and a laugh and his last words, she snorts and rolls her eyes then and with it finds herself laying down side by side hunting, overlooking the cliff as he did. “Might I suggest to stick to light scuffles then for awhile? I'd like for you to be at peak condition whenever we can seize the opportunity to attack Dragonford again.”

They had been kept shut away to their own for awhile now it seemed. Even when she tread the Brim she had not been disturbed. Had it been this way to begin with and @Vendrussel kept to her initial word of claiming the islands only (via Kei's first visit), maybe Ynness would still be alive and the peace could have been kept. After all, hunting in it and moving through it were two different things if it were just their hunting grounds. Sindri imagined she wouldn't kill anyone for moving through the moors. Nevertheless, there was no going back now. Sindri would not stop until a life of Dragonford was taken in turn for the life of her daughter.
