Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

The morning frosted. Winter was embraced as she opened her eyes to the snow gracing them within the white blanket wrapping the region. She had to squint, for the brightness of the morning was too much. The glare of the white created such a vivid terrian that it took moments to adjust before Celnes could scuffle herself out of the litter, and out into the world itself. Bright and blue, the sun shinning down onto her as her breath could be seen within the air itself. She could hear the sound of crunching as her paws touched ground. Crunch, crunch, as she moved along.

The Queen could see pathways created by other wolves and the elk itself. A trial left behind, evidence of where they were going but not what they were doing. As she strolled through the morning, a curious look around. Hibernation had set, the bears were away now to a cave in resting. Who else was within a slumber? The boars? But as she went down she could see their feet within the markings, almost similar to elk and yet slightly different. This was a good sign, she thought, for they were not all hibernating.

Hunting was tricky for herself. Starch white world while she held dark browns — winter was not a favorite season. Even if she prowled with caution, there was always the crunch of the snow, giving away her location. On some moments could she capture a bird or something larger, but the times were rare. Only on these moments does she relish the white kin, for they were a blessing in winter — the ability to disguise and survive. Perhaps this is how they felt in the other seasons, as normally Celnes could blend in.

Ah... Perhaps she would hunt a bird.
