Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

A read only for Ynness funeral, set after her body's return.. Other members of NF may do a single post if they so choose. Will close this in a few days.

It was a sad thing, to loose his daughter so soon. It was a remarkable thing to have had her for so long all together. Ragnar was angry, sad, but he was also happy she had died brave and in defense of herself and her right. Ragnar had every hope to protect his children from death, but hide they could not.

The sun-kissed wolf turns his head away. Away from the pile of black rocks, the marking of his daughter's death bed. The tide would rise and here the grave would be touched by the sea.

“We will not be far from you, Ynness, for though you are are first, you will not be the last.” He breathes deep, a heavy sigh and out to the sea. Their settlers to the islands would not be easily shook and would not easily leave. Nor would those of Northfall. War would be waged. Blood would be shed. And Ragnar would be ready. ““We fight. That is how we win, and that is how we die.””

Ragnar had hoped for peace, but peace could not be had. Not while those who thought they so little, so insignificant, settled into their oceans. Not when they took mainland grounds and most definitely not when they threatened their young. Sindri had hoped for every means to end this war swift and sure and would have had it not meant the risk of her of children. But her hessistance had not saved them and this was the aftermath of that. They would all die, this day or the next, nearer or further...

She looks to Ragnar as he speaks and then turns away, to the making of her broken daughter's grave. Valhalla had called to her first and rhe valkyrie had taken her home.

“Live now with the Gods, Ynness. To fight without restraint of a broken mortal body. Without hated and hurt. To sing and to feast with the Gods, who praise the young and brave spirit that you are.”
