Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

As the two strove on in the desire to fish, she noticed in the distance of that silver-gloss ahead. It reflected the sky itself and the clouds, a blue tint came in clear as they grew closer to the land. Solidified in thoughts of fighting, she held but a small humming to her voice as they walked toward that view. It wasn't a lake, nor' pond, but like a stream that connected elsewhere. A gaze followed to where it led but she couldn't find the end — maybe another day to find out what it led to.

When she peered inside, Uriel noted she could see the fish swimming through, "it seems though empty as this place may look, it contains a bounty."

Rannoch followed Uriel's lead through the plains and towards the lake. It was a pleasant day; the sun shined overhead, and the temperature was comfortable. They walked in near-silence, save for the gentle hum of his friend—which was lovely and made for a delightful walk.

They made their way towards the stream and settled along the water's edge. He watched the water, noticing how empty it looked, but Uriel quickly addressed his silent skepticism.

"Where are they?" he asked, still watching the stream.

Her paw motioned toward the water, a hush voice given as she explained gently, "each ripple given to the surface is often an indication toward a fish." Though, she would say it could also be a bug. Yet with winter around the absence of them was well- noticed, and just in time before the fish would venture further downwards. A silver gaze wandering as she watched circled form within, no noise given or a splash, but just soft ripples.. As she peered her head, through the murky waters the faint look of a fish tail could occasionally be seen grazing through just near the surface of it's bank.

"Winter is coming and they'll soon venture further into the banks. Perhaps we can try the bear method of hunting."
