Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

@Osiris

Ara was a bit less aggressive after her ordeal with the eagle, and the feeling of disappointing her mother for the first time. She sat in silence, a thoughtful stare at the pile of bones she took from the den and placed outside. Bones, that she knew her mother had brought, other warriors had brought — did the eagle too, partake in these kills? She knew not of the practice but knew that they were once alive, meals to be as sometimes brought whole, or fresh to the picking. For them to be picked apart, and then eaten with a hunger.

Respect @The Eagle , but be fearful. A curious blue gaze to see if he was around, but at the moment, saw none. If she were to be like the eagle, what would that be so? At the moment she was a little nightmare within the den, challenging her siblings but they did not give in without a fight, much less take in the same respect or fear, like she had been told to give to the large bird.

Her mother told her to think before she acted.. Should she plan her domination more thorough? Is that what she is supposed to do? Staring at her pile of bones that she brought out the den for a reason she had forgotten, the child sat deep in thought.

Mom cameo!

Hydra did not idle around the den site. She prowled and protected the close perimeter, all while keeping an ear upon the cubs. Ara was quiet today, and the Ostrega woman imagined it to be for good reason. Disappointed though the matriarch had been, she did not at this point in the girls life hold it against her. The mother had just enough self-awareness—granted to her from rearing more litter than one successfully—to understand that her own expectations could not be met in their entirety when the lessons were not yet provided.

But she still had enough vanity to not place the blame upon herself. With each litter raised, she would learn more and more. These cubs were more curious than the last, and inclined to greet what made them curious rather than wait and see. While she admired the boldness, when they were so small she could not yet appreciate it for all the danger it presented. Hydra was a vigilant shadow, however. When danger was so much as detected, it was done away with. As luck would have it, there was none this particular hour. The matriarch moved nearer to the mouth of the whelping den, settling some to begin to groom herself. Her attention still lingered on their surroundings, though it would not appear that way. Hydra remained vigilant.
