Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Heat day 2

^^
A midnight stroll was a demand as restless legs brought her out and away from the resting pack as they slumbered in the dens. Here, out in the open air the empress wouldn't have to worry about her second season this year of bothering them and drawing out terrible dreams. Snow fell all around in thick flakes, twinkling in the dim moonlight as she carried the precious stone around with her. Gently, but securely in her maw as she would not lose it out here in fear she would never find it again.

She had grown fond of it ever since finding it in the gardens, a small comfort during a time where she secluded herself for the sake of others and her own safety should vicious men decide to take up this time to sow their seeds. However, it didn't matter how much she wanted to remain out of the way, tucked and hidden as to not bother anyone - the demand to move was as strong as ever. Slender legs crying to move, to walk, to run as she loved to do since she was young.

In the moonlight Tsukiishi was different. The darkened mountains looked almost like strangers as she had grown accustomed to them during the day. Distracted by the looming mountains and their intimidating, dark, heights - Reiko didn't notice where she was stepping. The unfamiliar darkness that cloaked the snow and the rivers that passed through their lands.

In autumn the snow had come down in large flakes, blanketing the lands in a new alabaster coat. As she stepped... she vanished.

Into the snow and with a silent plop into the waters beneath. The river that was hidden beneath the layer of soft snow, a hazard for those who were unaware of its presence.

— and like that, she was washed away. Incapable of swimming to the top or grasping the stony ground. The little woman was at the mercy of the current and wherever it brought her next.
