Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

[sfont=Baskerville]Wet. He felt... nothing but wet. Like he was floating in the sea and couldn't move in order to paddle to shore. He was one with the waves, with the wakes, the tang of the salt and the fish that swam all around. It felt nice, to do nothing for a moment. Hear nothing, smell nothing... see nothing, feel nothing at all. Just a piece of driftwood at the mercy of the waters around, lifeless... timeless, unafraid of where they wound up.

A breath.

No.

No!

He inhaled, body wretching as the sea water flooded his lungs against his will. Toes stretching out as he begged for for the nothing again, the comfort that came with what was as close to death - but it seemed that something was beckoning him on. Willing him to shore and to breath a raspy breath. Coughing up the salty brine until finally his lungs would fill with nothing but oxygen again.

Fatigued, the coastal man would open his heavy eyes to watch the twinkling shores that glittered like stars before his eyes. This sight alone was enough to make life worth living again. And something else... someone else. More than one. In time the thoughts would bring him strength to stand, to shake off the salty tang of the sea and let it cling in dried lumps on his fur to be cleaned out later. He had to find them, his family.[/sfont]
