About
Stemming from it's mother village, the birthplace of Nanuktaaq, Silaktukvik is a village of Inuktitut origins. Guided by the wisdom of the moon mother, the village will become home to those seek a place to heal, grow, learn, and live a life of peace. This will be a place centered around a familial like community, who strive for loyalty and trust among the ranks.Culture
The traditional Inuktitut cultures will be loosely followed here, but with traditions uniquely designed for this group. The Inuktitut people are well adapted to the more colder terrains, thus the village's chosen home of the Frostspire Highlands. A majority of these people are skilled in hunting, tracking, trading, and collection of natural resources. Fur pelt making is common and will often be a skill that many will learn, especially the youth. Those that are more skilled in fighting will also be welcomed as guardians of the village. Spiritual knowledge and worship will be a common practice, but not required by those who choose to call the village home.Traditions
The village will harbor many traditions specific to the moon mother's design. Some of those traditions are as listed below:
· Nutaat Saqqititsiniq ("to give a new beginning") — When one joins the village, they may choose for a new to be given, one likely of Inuktitut origin. It is a way to allow a fresh start to those who want it. With their old name set aside, their past is no longer theirs, but only in the wastes of the mind. Sins may be forgotten and prior mistakes may be corrected in this new life.
· Nutaaq Siqiniq Panniujuq ("rising of the new sun" — When the sun rises on the morn of a new season, the village will come together to rejoice, be thankful for what good has come to them, and speak of what good they hope to come soon. This is also a time for members of the village to suggest some changes they might like to see, in the hopes of better improving the community and how they fare through the new season.
· Ihuqqutsiarniq Inutuqaq ("judgement of the corrupt") — When one of the village has been found committing a grave crime, they will be called before leadership in a time of judgement. Those who may have been wronged will also be called forward to speak against they are who are being judged. This is a time to decide on a just punishment, whether it be demotion, imprisonment, or exile. Members of the village will often be allowed to attend solely to observe, if it is deemed appropriate.
