Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Alcott sucks in their 'first' breath and lazily opens their eyes, expecting to be back home. Of course, they aren't. The wolf is greeted with lush greens not all different but not the same, flowing water that they do not remember falling asleep near. The scents are all different, none familiar in the deep span of greenery. It's clearly owned by someone, though, and a large amount of someones by the smells of it if a yearling can capture it like they are. At first, there is relief - they're away from those who treat them like trash. Of course, the relief stops when they realize they'll be seen as a deserter. Leaving with no word.... - WAIT! Alcott shoots up from where they're laying. They don't even remember leaving.

They're worried about this, because even the finest of pack healers probably wouldn't be able to have them moved so far away without them noticing. This place doesn't look like it would be anywhere near home, and they also didn't leave of their own volition. Magic isn't real. It isnt! So why did they get moved this far away? Alcott doesn't think even the High Elk could do something like this.... Their head turns when a horned creature follows a herd nearby, they clearly also have their claim on the area, Alcott realizes. The wolves haven't completely chased the group off somehow, and Alcott finds that almost good. Perhaps... Someone could at least tell them where they are. They don't want to stick here - they'd rather be back home where they belong even if they don't like some of the wolves there.

They don't move from their spot, but they do bark out a simple "Hello?" Maybe someone is near- but they don't want to lure every wolf to their area if they howl.

Her young grew, and so had her ability to roam once more. There was a few in Elkshire, though many remained rather silent, and few, trusted in ranks. Even now she held some suspicions against Remus, for in the end he never truly swore an allegiance ; but could not afford to completely lose him, not yet. There was numbers to keep away stray intruders, but not enough to let off the reliance of Nightwalkers, and especially so if anyone came to bring a terror about. Though she wasn't sure how to simply gain those she needs..

With such thoughts she was roaming. Plain walkers were not unordinary within Elkshire - though it was more surprising when it was someone the Queen recognized, "Alcott?"

With luck, no one would show up at all and Alcott could get back to... Doing nothing, they suppose. They don't have much use for anyone at their age, even if they're not the smallest wolf out there. Still, they're outshined by so many others it's not worth the trouble. That is, of course, until they hear their own name. Alcott's head snaps up so fast they get whiplash, and when the black spots vanish from their vision they see someone they know somewhat. It takes a minute for the wolf to realize who it is - there's so much family to remember.

"Celnes?" The kid questions, pink eyes searching for the answer.

"Where am I?"

Though not directly related, the two had known each other. All of course, within the old homeland, would know all that were claimed to be 'unholy,' a claimed abomination against the High Elk himself.. Though she couldn't recall specific scenarios that occurred against the foe, the Queen remembered his gray pelt, and the whites that scattered to his arms. An unusual Deorwine, some would say, blue tones that held far away from their beloved brown, and a pink look that held a cold touch then to the pumpkin-love that normally would shine.

"You are within a new land, cousin," her tail flickered, her lips going upwards in a small smile, "within my own claim ; Elkshire."
