I'd rather sleep than stay awake,

The day was gloomy, and her mother was taking her siblings out on personal walks. Vermillion said no when Celnes offered, she didn't really want to leave the comfort of the home den, and others.. Sometimes she heard the rustling of the leaves from the wind and grew a bit scared. Though her mother would be close, she didn't feel ready to go forward into the darkened forest..

Just like today, where her mother took another sibling out, and the rest of them stayed back, playing on the outside of the den. She had found a rock! It was smooth, and hid it between her paws so @Edith wouldn't try to take it.

Edith had been stalking a bug. It was short, stout and had a full suit of armor; it looked neat. She had been following it for some time, weaving in and out of their established parameters. Mother was gone, so Edith took the opportunity to push her boundaries. 

She was nearly upon it when something caught her attention out of the corner of her eye. Slowly, she rose from her crouch and turned her head in Vermillion's direction. It seemed like she had something tucked between her paws, and Edith was instantly interested in whatever it was. 

"Ohhhhh Vermilllllllllion," she said, her voice lifting and song-like as she began to walk towards her sister. "Whatchaaaaa got?"

"Nothing.." Knowing her sister, some way or another she'd try to take it.. Not that she wanted it, but just to be mean. She shuffled the stone under her stomach as she sat up, hoping that enough would cover it, and gently cowered her head toward Edith. There was a slight whimper as the other came closer, not desiring for her to get closer, and was hoping that would indicate to mother she was getting a bit too rough with Vermillion, even if that wasn't the truth.

"It doesn't seem like it's nothing," Edith said, frowning. "You shouldn't lie," she continued, stopping in front of Vermillion, "Or you'll get in big trouble." She would make sure that their mother knew that her sister had lied; she was the pot calling the kettle black. 

Edith stood tall, lifting her tail and lifting her tail as she stared her sister down. "Now," she said, her voice harder, "Show me what you got."

"Why does it matter to you?" A means of defiance toward her usually dominant sister. Threats to be laid that tended to work, but as still a child she knew not of true consequences for her actions. A small moment of desire, for it was her discovery and not her sisters. She wanted to claim something to her own, like her own pile to prove she was not but part of a litter of others.. A standby for the older siblings as they clear as day held a favoritism toward not only from their mother, but most of all wolves that came to meet them.  

The stone continued to be tucked away under her paws.
