It was one of those days, as rare as they were, that Olive wished she was someplace other than she was. Only the day before, she had climbed these outcrops and made quite a day of it — but she had awoken that morning to gray skies, and a grayer disposition. It had been a few days since she had last eaten, and it seemed her plans to hunt this day were dashed. If it rained, the scent trails would be obscured, and the prey animals holed up in their burrows. She, too, wished she was holed up in her den, or the warmth of The Hireath.

Olive didn't know if she was more jealous of her prey for their ability to escape the weather amongst the bleakest landscape, or hangry because she wanted to eat them.

Almost immediately, the sylph turned her nose to the sky to scry which way was north, and began heading back towards Little Haven. It was at least several day's travel, and she would be trucking through most of it through this ephemeral dreariness, but at least she could rest her bones and dry her pelt amongst friends.

It felt a little foreign to be departing the dear woodlands Aurora kept close in the nook of her heart. Remembering the very day on one of her expeditions, she fortuitously stumbled upon the memorable blues and lilacs that carpeted the ground.

It was full of nutritious earth, all boosting the multitude of herbs here; her garden that she flocked to daily. Like a child in a sweetie shop, with its endless selection of chocolates and confectionary, the range was unlimited as far as she sought.

After spending what felt like an age of familiarising themselves with their surroundings, still many corners of it unturned, of course, it was time to loosen their grip on their home and set sail for the seas, on the horizon unexplored. Perhaps even to acquaint themselves with neighbors.

Moving off during the night, she and her companion adjusted their natural compass to the north. Opposite from the direction in which they originally came from.
Trailing all through the night, come morning, much to Aurora's dismay, the heavens cried and its spheres clung to her pelt. With sorrowful eyes, she glanced to her friend, knowing they knew what message she sent to them just with a saddened, desperate look. She wanted to escape the wet, and quickly.

But with the plains being… well… plains. There were little to zero shelters, but up ahead of themselves were rock-shaped sentries, overlooking the flat land around them.

With her elegant, loping gait, she floated toward the unusual structures, quickly flattening her flank up against one, to avoid the rain, -- the wet she so loathed.

It was a rare thing for them to travel away from their home in Lapis Nestle but the time had come. Both wolves would leave their picturesque home adventure out into worlds unknown. It was exciting and terrifying at the same time. At least though, they were not headed towards the spot they'd first awakened with the angry wolves.

No, the headed northward through the plains. The Whisperer took it all in. Although there wasn't much... Rolling hills and grasslands illuminated by the moon.

They traveled through the night up until morning when the weather would take a turn. One look from their companion and they knew it was time to take shelter.

Fortunately, it appeared that they would be lucky today. There was a rocky outcropping that provided them the means to get out of the rain.

Whisperer cozied up next to Aurora and prepared to get comfortable for who knew how long they'd be in. But they knew a while for their friend did not like the wet.

It was the Soul who noticed there was something in the distance, moving... The information was related quietly to the Body who nudged Aurora with their muzzle and pointed at the lupine shape.

The rain did not fall any harder than a mere mist, but Olive tired of it all the same. In the afternoon it might clear up a bit, the woman tried to reason with herself, so might as well rest now and prepare to cover a great distance later. Her mind swayed in an instant, the sodden sylph paused in her forward motion and moved her head to and fro, attempting to glimpse anything more than a grandiose stalagmite for cover. Once again disappointed in her surroundings, Olive turned to trot to the nearest obelisk. That was when she noticed that she wasn't alone.

The little witch slowed her approach and halted several yard away; however, it was clear from her posture that she intended to share their space with them, if they did not pose any immediate blockade. "Ahoy!" She called, managing a smile and a wag of her tail. "Might there be room for three?" Olive inquired, then noticed the smake coiled 'round the darker one's neck, and she amended " —four?"

Distressed, dew-kissed ears flattened atop her head that slowly built up with moisture from the faint rain. It was all unpleasant. What was meant to be a thrilling new venture, hadn’t quite started in the most anticipated way. Autumn was now cooling the temperate of the meadowland, with the sunshine still blessing them with warmth, but it was more bearable with a cool breeze that’d sweep the grassy prairie.

The tip of her long snout burrowed as deep as it could within the comfy confines of her friends’ coat, in a meek attempt to hide from the irksome weather.
She could feel them shift, but she took no notice until there was an unfamiliar voice that came their way. She shimmied her head to sit atop her companions' dorsal, lavender orbs pierced through the glum light and watched as another female moved to join them.

Auroras’ own tail wagged, beckoning them, ‘Of course! Come, come join us!’, an inviting smile pressed to each corner of her dark lips. She heard their suggestion of a quartet, but let the serpent introduce themselves.

The other wolf seemed intent on joining them, which was just fine in their book. The Whisperer held no objections to letting the pale one share their impromptu shelter. Aurora spoke their thoughts aloud, saying that they were more than welcome to come in with them. "Welcome..." The snake hissed in their subtle whisper while The Body would smile and dip their head in greeting. Their was a slight shifting as The Whisperer would lean in closer to Aurora, their fur meshing with theirs, to give the stranger more room to make themselves at home.

They would let the other settle in though both pairs of golden eyes would watch in interest, this other wolf. "We are The Whisperer and our friend..." They would look back at Aurora, silently questioning if it was alright this introduction they made, as well as leaving room for them to voice their own name if they so wanted. Hopefully they weren't being too forward here... "Who might you be..?" The snake would hiss gently to the newcomer with their tongue flickering out of their serpentine lips.

She was readily accepted amongst the shelter, and as space was made for her, Olive moved forward to fill it; hugging close to the sandstone and becoming immediately familiar with the close scents of her new companions. "This rain!" she exclaimed, not bothering to shake her coat free of the clinging dampness, less her problem because the problem of others'. "It would be nice if the gods could abide by our travel plans, no?" Olive managed a smile, her attention lingering on the beautiful lilac woman, who felt so immediately familiar it almost struck her down. The one with the coat of many shades of brown dipped their head, and the little witch dipped her own in turn; but her gaze eventually came to rest upon the serpent, and she found she could not turn away. "I am Olive, of Little Haven." she greeted, then quickly lapsed into her intrigue.

"I have seen much in my life..." she began, cocking her head. "but I have before never known a snake to speak!"

Muffled rain was steady, and the longer it would go on for, the more Aurora had that itch to shake and rid the moist nuisance.
It was now a tight-knit group, as the duo became a trio, under the shield of the wall. But Aurora was always courteous, no matter the dampening of the weather.

A smile, that’d warm up traces of the fresh raindrops, had already adorned delicate lips. Hearing their given name, she offered her own so readily to the stranger, whose aura shone quite brightly, as though a replica of her own. ‘I’m Aurora, it’s lovely to meet you Olive’, she then cast a small unimpressed look outwards to the plains, from whence they had sprinted from. ‘I quite agree, we have not long set off from our home-grounds. Though our gods have their own plans, do they not?’.

She then sat quiet, whilst they became enchanted by her scaled friend.
Her thoughts drifted to a diversion from the current conversation, following the trail of her own words...

...Perhaps the fates had a reason for the greenskeeper to meet the dove-like woman.

They spoke not in reply to the exclamations of the weather, instead, only smiling at their newest companion. It seemed as if this newcomer was as adverse to the rain as Aurora was. Amusing, really. They cared not about getting their fur wet and if needed would gladly head out into the rain again to do anything that the others needed. But such a thing was not and would not likely be required.

The rain-adverse pair began lamenting about the weather and the gods' plans and again, they were amused. Falling into listening easily to the banter of others before their Soul was being spoken about. Ah, another that was not introduced to the way of souls, as many here were not. "We are one..." The Soul would say simply, serpentine gaze watching the other kindly, just as the Body did. "The snake is the Sssoul and speaks our thoughts for othersss to hear." The Body was still not ready for normal conversations with others. Although, in their past life the snake still did a lion's share of their thoughts. Snake and wolf. Hardly any of it was of consequence to them. Species did not matter; their combined natures were.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Olive." They would continue on.

The little witch nodded along as The Soul laid out the details of the symbiotic relationship; the concept of which, Olive ate up with a smile. "A pleasure." She was an adept of the metaphysical arts and had much experiences with souls; but this was a new way of understanding such things entirely. In a way, Olive considered herself a collector of cultural curios and nuances, and the woman was eager to learn more — in time. This type of knowledge was best gained through intimate and personal experiences, not from interviewing a stranger.

"I cannot help but be green with envy!" Olive chimed with a smile. "A lovely travel partner, and a soul to wear on the outside." She looked at each wolf in turn, aware that she was flattering them a bit; but Olive had always enjoyed the company of woman more-so than men, and she was in dire need of more friends. "Are you of a pack, as well? You mentioned having home grounds," the woman inquired, not aware of any other large packs in the area. If one was forming, it was her duty to inform Flynn and Meissa.

Whilst the ill weather had its own ideas, the three maidens scooted around the invisible candlelit warmth of their own ease and harmony. Once shared names were passed, it was time for the tales of their long ago and far away.

The graceful swan carried her smile still, like the family heirloom around a dames décolletage.
'A lovely travel partner, they are', knowing fully well the compliment was directed at herself, she curled the words to tribute her close friend.

'No pack, no. We have come a days long walk south of this landmark. A pocket woodland, with the adopted name of Lapis Nestle. It's rather beautiful, with its plethora of lilac and blue flora', her words bore the same heart-felt warmth as the strong attachment she now felt for the forest her and her companion sought a home within. With its generous garden of herbs and fruit, it was easy to settle and make a life there for them. But it was time for the inseparable duo to make new friends and search the riches of their world.

'Are we within Little Haven territory? Only we didn't come across any markers, I do apologise if we are trespassing!'. Perhaps it was only the outskirts, and Aurora hoped this was the case, not wanting to disrupt any peace she would be seeking with its rulers.

The Body would duck their head a bit bashfully at the praise. If blush could be seen on that dark coat or dark scales, they both would have been berry red. The snake would hiss delightedly and tuck their head underneath the Body's chin as they looked at the lovely flatterer. The Whisperer would give a breathy chuckle and flick their furry tail playfully at Aurora when their companion agreed at what a lovely companion they were, as if to say "no, you are".

At the other's question, they would shake their head silently to accent what Aurora would say. Their companion would explain everything while they would nod where appropriate, silently adding their own contributions. They would even add a contented sigh at the mention of "lilac and blue flora". It was quite the lovely sight.

"Yesss... we can leave if necessary..." The Soul would chime in for them while the Body would glance outside, watching as if worried they might see other wolves ready to boot them out. Unpleasant memories would resurface, making them just a tad bit more worried than they should be. They never wanted to cause any trouble.

Olive laughed as the two wolves expressed concern, hopefully immediately dispelling any worries they had about overstepping boundaries. "Not at all," she chimed, shaking her head briefly and unintentionally flinging water that had coalesced under her chin. "I would be hard pressed to live amongst these badlands," the druid explained, not even bothering to look around and give it one final glance before dismissing it.

"Your forest sounds far more amenable," Olive said, picturing a land of beautiful, pastel hues that painted the ground as if the wind held a paintbrush. On some level, the picture in her mind rang more true to her than a paradise within the ground, and it called to her more strongly. That must be why these two lovely women had set up shop there, but just as she, wanderlust ousted them from their comfortable homes. "What is the purpose of your travels?" she inquired, noting that when she ventured south once more, she must visit this auspicious lapis nestle.

Heavenly delicate was the soft chuckle that soared from her, as though it was breathed directly from an angel themselves. The tickle from her friends' tail was the merry reason for its birth. She took a hidden glance at both soul and body, smiling at their bashfulness.

The dove helped ease the rising tension of alarm within both her and her companion, settling their minds that they were not trespassing into pack territory. Aurora being the ardent adventurer prior to her making a home within Lapis Nestle, was always the silent ghost when skirting and avoiding claimed areas, keeping to its borders, but always with her nose down to grab at the scent marks that would be the unmistakable label of a group.

She had an inkling they weren't infringing on Little Haven boundaries, but the confirmation was welcomed nevertheless.

'I'm glad to hear of that', a little phew became of her features, to show her alleviation. She would concur to Olives' suggestion of the plains with a nod and hum, they weren't the most... inviting. A glow of home-sickness then grasped at her heartstrings, for the faintest of fleeting moments. The cosy comforts of their fallen tree den were definitely where she longed to be, and not within the unpleasant wet day out in the open. 'Oh it truly is, if you ever head south of here, you must visit us. Though our journey is for this very reason, we are herbalists', healers. And we wanted to let it be known where our neighbours could seek our help if they so needed it. I'm sure it would be handy to know we are secluded, and on perhaps many-a-packs outskirts', her voice came in soothing warmth and daintiness. 'We wanted to make a few new friends too'.

A pause was taken if her counterpart would add to their reasons for broadening their horizons, as it were.

'And yourself? You spoke of travelling too?', the rains were not dying away, the conversation was a comforting distraction for her, curious of this lady who bore a drawing aura.

"I'm glad to hear of that." The Body would nod their assent, equally pleased that they would not get a rude attack for being on someone's land. Once was surely enough and they were happy with not having to deal with aggressive wolves, if they could help it, ever again. They were not made for such brutish confrontations. They were far too timid and bashful.

Again, they would nod along to Aurora's words. The Whisperer considered themselves far less of a healer than Aurora was, but they were learning and on track to at least be helpful. They liked learning about the many herbs and the remedies used to heal a wolf's body. Truthfully, they owed so much to their lovely friend. Still, they would love to have the pale woman come visit them. They were so kind, so wonderful, almost as much as their best friend. It would surely make their home feel that much livelier to have visitors there.

They had nothing much more to add and simply tilted their ears towards Olive, head canting to one side as they were interesting to hear what brought them away from their packlands.

Though Olive's curious nature made her gregarious by default, she never truly had mastered the art of conversation. She had sunk too far into a web of her own making; the beliefs and passions she felt inside her head, and was intrigued by these things and these things only. It was a shame that her passions were not as commonplace as some, such as sparring or lupine politico, but Olive found that she made her own best company and simply allowed others to love the things they loved, and she loved how much they loved it all.

But when happenstance saw fit to gift Olive with another healer-type to converse with, the waifish woman always overjoyed. Those who communed with the earth and the sky, as did she, would always be her favorite type of stranger. These rare meetings are what helped Olive to procure her vast knowledge and kaleidoscope of practices, that lead her path from (at first) healing the body, to eventually (in the past year or so) healing the soul. The little witch was proud of the garden of knowledge she cultivated, and was more than happy to plant, reap and sow the collective consciousness as needed.

"I too am a shaman-woman," she chimed eagerly, answering the pale, verbose one named Aurora. The body continued to be silent, but their postural language was acknowledge with a tip of Olive's nose. Realizing that this band of witches lived not far, she wondered if Aurora could answer one of Olive's most common vexations. "So, you know the magic of the Plains?" she questioned. "If so, please enlighten me, because I can find no medicine here," All was grass, grass, grass, as far as they eye could see. and where there wasn't grass, there were rocks. Perhaps this Lapis Nestle held far more potential than the interminable drollness of the area that surrounded Little Haven; meaning this relationship might prove to be a very beneficial one.

Fates as Aurora had blossomed to acquaint with, always worked inexplicably and also in mischievous ways. The halo that would draw her to this new female, Olive, had in fact been with reason, and a smile of recognition and a widening of lavender eyes were expressed on behalf of her happiness. 'Oh! I had yet to meet another here, how wonderful!', if she had little palms, they would positively be clapping with excitement at this revelation.

The plains here had not yet been explored, what with the blessed array of flora and roots the earth in their patch woodland preserved, she looked only briefly amidst the outskirts beyond their trees, but found nothing, other than the option to hunt the wild turkeys. 'I am afraid I know of very little in the Plains, but I'm certain a lady of such experience as yourself, you already know of this', a dismal look peeped out into the openness they found themselves within, other than the odd flower she would patter along the lines of fortune in finding, it was bleak as far as a greenskeeper would believe. 'There are a host of remedies within our home of woods, and there is a sufficient amount that you needn't travel far for either, though tell me, shaman Olive, is this what brings you to explore these plains?'.
