Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

What had happened? It was all a haze, a fever dream.

Ever since that day she'd laid in an unknown den, recovering, being tended to by unknown paws. She didn't fight back. Couldn't, really. Part of her wished they'd let her lie there and rot.

She passed in and out of consciousness. Dreams plagued by playing with her siblings and infiltrated by her father's disapproving glare. He told her to take life seriously coupled with a mocking tone of "I told you so". He was here, then there. One moment she was running, hunting, with all of her limbs... The next was a world of pain as whatever quarry she was chasing turned on her. It was a deer, violently kicking her leg and then lunging with fangs like those out of a nightmare.

It plunged fangs into her leg, while she could do nothing about it. Frozen. It ripped and pulled but she was transfixed by its face. It morphed, changing. White fur sprouted from its brown face. It's features sharpened and elongated into tgat of a wolf. A wolf with fiery red eyes and a battle scarred face.

She couldn't run. Couldn't get away.

She was stuck there as her leg was pulled away.

Her eyes snapped open to pain in her leg... Or where her leg USED to be. The woman shifted so she could stare at the scarred stop. She felt desolate, like there was a hole on her chest. It was a nightmare. One she could never wake up from.

She curled away from the den entrance. Closing her eyes but very much awake.

The world was too harsh, she felt do cold...
